George Michael to Tour North America
    March 24, 2008, 4:38 PM EST
LONDON (AP) -- Ladies and gentlemen, George Michael is giving North America one more try.

The pop star is gearing up for his first tour of the United States and Canada in 17 years, opening a multi-city "25 Live" tour in San Diego on June 17, Michael announced Monday. The tour is scheduled to wrap in Sunrise, Fla., on Aug. 3,

Other stops include Atlanta, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, New York, Boston, Toronto and Montreal.

Michael, 44, sang in the '80s pop group Wham! before embarking on a successful solo career. His hits include "Faith," "Father Figure" and "One More Try."

He'll release his greatest-hits album "Twenty Five" in the U.S. on April 1.

You know I always wanted to dance to some Wham music in front of those pro-life protestors while wearing those god awful "Choose Life" T-shirts, just to embarass the hell out of em.

Does he still have a career over there?

Not really a fan of his music (although I respect him for doing his own thing and not just churning out shit ballads, which would be the obviou$ thing to do..) but he has an exceptional voice.

No. Well, unless you count his recent appearances on the TV show "Eli Stone" (which isn't a half bad program, by the way).

But Bill Lumbergh will be there with bells on, trust me on that.

You know, on that I agree...I found myself working at a music store at the time that "Live Five" or "Five Live" or whatever it was called was release, that thing with him singing some Queen songs? VERY impressed, and thought if Queen was ever going to go forward with anybody else, George Michael would be the guy for it.

                Still think that, too.

Agreed. He has the range and the power to pull it off.

I'd LOVE to see this show.
George Michael is one of the most underrated songwriters and vocalists of our generation. Did you know that he won the Songwriters Guild award and at the time was the youngest recipient to ever win it? Careless Whisper was the song that did it for him.

The Faith album, all him. Every instrument, every line, every melody. He wrote and produced the entire thing.

He went a little too gay after Listen without Prejudice, but I still give him BIG props for the musician that he is....

PLUS, I think the US has been WAY too hard on him for being gay.
