Taken from Blabbermouth:

VELVET REVOLVER founding members Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner announced today (Tuesday, April 1) that they are parting ways with singer Scott Weiland. "This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either," said Slash in a press release. "Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on."

Slash hinted in a recent interview that the band might carry on without Weiland, who announced onstage in Glasgow two weeks ago that fans were watching the "last tour" by the group. Weiland and drummer Matt Sorum proceeded to get into a public war of words online, fueling speculation that the band was splitting apart. But Slash told Classic Rock magazine, "Obviously I'm very aware of everything that's going on. The only thing I can add to that is, in contrast to what Scott says, there will be a VELVET REVOLVER after this tour." When asked if Weiland would continue as the singer, Slash added with a chuckle, "I have no comment on that."

Weiland is reuniting with his previous outfit, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, which broke up in 2002. The group has scheduled a press conference in Los Angeles for April 7 where it will announce a full tour of 50 or more dates for the summer and fall in addition to the handful of festival shows already confirmed.

Weiland spent a month in rehab recently, following an arrest for driving under the influence last November and his failure to show up for a VELVET REVOLVER gig at the Sundance Festival in January.

Despite the latest turmoil, bassist Duff McKagan told the U.K.'s Journal Live recently, "VELVET REVOLVER is something that's going to be around for a long while yet."

Yeah, the site's so slow lately, it reminds me of the wait for a Van Halen reunion.

For the record, Scott "officially" said what he thought of their future a week ago. Slash wants it to sound like they canned Scott, but how can ya fire somebody who already quit?

They tried him out before Scott. Slash said that it didn't really work, it sounded like "Skid Roses."

I have no idea who they will get to sing. Since 1990, how many great rock singers have there been?

You might as well reunite Bach, Dennis DeYoung and Steve Perry with their bands while you're at it....

Just a matter of time before GNR finally gets back together....

They're not fucking blind, they see the payday that is awaiting them if/when they get back, VH has shown that....

They could hire Michael Kiske.

Why not? I actually thought that he would be a great candidate.

However, something tells me that they will want a singer not of the Axl-ilk, which is why they hired Weiland in the first place....

they tried the guy from Buckcherry, but he had too much ego. Slash wasn't down with it. His vocals would be cool with VR....Probably do need an unknown at this point

Actually, Michael Anthony's voice wouldn't be too bad for Boston.

Skid Row although not my cup of tea had a couple good tunes.
But that fuckin' guy has the Ego of Axl but without the talent.
Did you see that Mtv or VH1 thing he did with Nugent .
His ego fucked that all up.
One band member attacked him.
He was a real asshole.
Slash doesn't need to have another asshole singer .
He had the biggest , already.

I forgot about his ego issue, but I love his voice, he can sing pretty much everything.

So, it seems that Velvet Revolver are finally close to replacing Scot Weiland. Matt Sorum has said that they are working someone in who is younger at the moment. Slash has denied its Myles Kennedy.

Any ideas who this guy might be?

Velvet Revolver is utter shit.

Slash, get off your ass, kiss and make up with Axl, and be done with it.

It's not likely to happen, is it?

Until all of those guys need to money badly enough, they'll never put up with each other in a reunion. I don't think that reunion will ever happen to be honest.

I quite enjoyed the Velvet Revolver albums. A long way from STP of GNR heydays, but they were always going to be. With a new singer, they could sound like a completely different band.

Maybe someone they found on Youtube. Worked for Journey.

The fact that Duff appeared on stage with Axhole and his "Guns for Hire" a few months back leads me to believe that a reunion is possible. I believe Izzy has also appeared with AxHole once or twice, so that leaves it up to Slash to mend fences with the egomaniac, I guess. But it seems AxHole can't keep a guitarist, and Slash can't keep a singer, so as Grasshopper says, they really should just get it fucking over with already.

That would make them a bigger joke than Journey. Or Guns for Hire.

Pretty sure Axhole's the culprit there - too lazy to search for the link, but I was reading an interview recently on Blabbermouth (may have actually been the piece on Duff jamming with Guns for Hire) where he referred to Slash as a "cancer" and again vowed never to work with him...

That doesn't sound like Slash is the one that needs to be mending fences... :umm:

I read that too somewhere, don't recall where but he is still lipping off about Slash. Hard for me to comprehend his issues, shit he fucked them all over into signing off their rights to GnR prior to their departure. What more could that tool want?

HAHAHAHHAHAHA!

Mick Jagger invented, perfected, and should retain sole ownership of the chicken-step. Weiland just looks weird doing it.

Well apparently as Sheepish as it sounds....I think Slash is only one step above Poison's Drummer who I used to skate with in So Cal....sorry...Slash I would never hire for any band.

I'd forgotten how pathetic VR was, Scott Wired looks like he has a chickenfoot Y
Just another lowlight in the history of post-DLR Van Halen.

I heard there is a hot young singer from Canada out there, maybe....

You know Appetite came out in 1987 so the 25 year anniversary would be 2012. I find it hard to believe that GNR won't capitalize on that in some fashion. Does that mean they will reunite and tour behind an all AFD set? I guess we'll have to wait and see......

Why would Slash want to tour with that fucking loser Axhole ?? He has money from VR and his solo album sold well. Axhole is over. Nobody in America could care less about the asshole. That means your career in rock music is over for the most part. I love all the bullshit he is pulling in other countries lately. Slash keeps an eye on this and I bet he is thinking no fucking thanks been through that shit once !! Axhole looks like fucking shit man !! Slash is a great player !! Do another VR disc. I like both of them. His solo disc is interesting.

VR made some good songs...but they never made anything THAT special...the final click was missing, despite some decent tunes...like this one, a really good rock ballad, but too easy to forget anyway...
