Can Dave legally release LIVE VH pre-1985?

Can Dave legally release LIVE VH pre-1985? Opinions are welcome, but I'd really like to know the legalities of this. Anyone?

Not as long as those WB tools Eddie, Alex and 'the bass player' have anything to say about it.

No he cannot legally per a bud that is an in-house attorney for Sony Music in L.A., big Van Roth fan, and is familiar with the Van Halen legal stuff.

Besides, Warner Music Group (WMG) ownes Van Halen's "back catalog" and they control the publishing rights.

That is the whole reason for the quickly cooked up 2004 Van Spammy Tour. Eddie wants to try and get VH's back catalog rights back from WMG and it is going to take a ton of cash to do it.............

What Dave said in his Classic Rock interview this spring led me to believe he doesn't have enough control over that material to release something without VH's and WB's co-operation/consent.

Roth stated that there should have been box sets chock full of rareities and live vids of the classic lineup out there by now, and that there wasn't had more to do with ineptitude on the part of VH's management than anything else.
