And it was well worth the wait!

Eh?

Waiting for the army to return was worth the wait, I'm not so sure about AxHole's SOLO disc. I hear most of it and thought it was interesting but it's not a Gun's disc. His voice sounds like shit on most of it. The Spaghetti Incident smokes this shit even for a bunch of covers . I love the fact that it will be in the $ 6.99 bin in a year !!! It was like listening to Van Halen without Dave. VERY FORGETABLE !! Sorry Axl .

The album was not worth the wait or the amount of money they sunk to produce the album. It is mediocre at best.

Nothing could be worth that wait, but 'Chinese Democracy' is a grower.

No, it's not GNR and, yes, there are one or two many ballads on here, but there are some great moments on here: 'Better' is a great song and 'If The World' is something that I realize myself in, and 'Madagascar' is epic.

The problem though is that - for all the song craft - there is no DANGER, no swagger. As Badguy point out, where are the riffs? I keep hearing how amazing Bumbledick and Robin Fink are, but Slash has never been found wanting in the riff department.

Wow, I'm in the minority on this?

I auctually really enjoyed it..Sounds like some weird overproduced Use Your Illusion. Which is what you have to go into listening to it..You can't go in thinking you're going to hear a "Night train" or "Mr. Brownstone", You're going to hear modern versions of stuff like "November Rain", etc.

Madagascar, Better, I.R.S., and The Title Track are all pretty good IMO.

That said, Axl now that this is done, its time to reunite with Slash, Izzy, Duff, and Matt Sorum. :)

ChiDem grows on me with each listen.

"Scraped" & "Riad N' The Bedouins" both contain some nice riffage, although somewhat buried in a rather busy mix. "Street Of Dreams" has a great Queen-esque power rock vibe going on. "Better" and "I.R.S." are also great tracks.

Haterz b damned! This record sounds way better than Death Magnetic.

I'd rather hear GnR greatest hits album, which is called "Appetite for Destruction." :D

Fair enough.

Appetite is still a very enjoyable record.

No, I'm with you. I enjoyed it. I don't think it's a great, or even consistently good album, but there a moments of real class and a handful of great songs. 'Sorry' is a real grower....

Appetite is still a very enjoyable record.

The album is like a long police chase that leaves a trail of broken bottles, empty ammo cartridges and spilled gasoline.

I gotta admit that I like it.

It`s the first album where I heard some of the songs seven years before it came out.

Maybe if I hadn`t, I wouldn`t have been prepared for what I heard.

Anyone who was expecting "Appetite..." part two would have been kidding themselves.

I like the fact they kept Buckethead`s leads as his playing is awesome.

On the other hand I think they over egged the pudding on a lot of the tracks.

How the hell can you have five guitarists on a song?

I love the self importance of "Madagascar".

Whether it really is GnR or not, it is what it is.

It might not be great but I think it`s very good.

Wouldn`t it be fucked up if they did a new album next year?

Yes, and it would be very interesting to here an Axl record fresh for the first time, rather than seven years before it's releashed!

I think we're on the same page with 'Chinese...': good, but not great. Some strong songs, but not enough swagger for GNR.

I really like the album, in part because I just consider it an Axl solo project....I am a HUGE classic GNR fan, Appetite AND the Illusions are 3 of my favorite albums EVER....I think it's over produced and there is some shit, but overall I think the songs are there. Worth that long ass wait? No, but I'm enjoying it for what it is.

I disagree, I think for the most part Axl sounds great.

I actually don't even want this to happen now....and I actually think there's no chance in hell it ever will....Axl's too fucking "damaged" upstairs....nothing new there though, right?!

Better than I thought it was going to be.

Not as good as it should have been.

It's all a bit so what...

Its not really the lack of original GNR that bothers me its the lack of band period. Its 15 years of session musicians cobbled together and probably put through pro tools.

A few good 'uns, though.

Cat?

Chinese Democracy is not a bad album at all.

It takes time to grow on you, that's for sure. It's a little soft, that's for sure.

But the more you listen to it, the more you will appreciate it.

I'd take it over either Velvet Revolver album.

People expecting Appetite for Destruction should be disappointed, but why would you expect that album?

DLR7884
It's a different band.

I'd agree with that, it's definitely a grower. One too many ballads, but Axl is pushing 50 now!

I really like Velvet Revolver, especially the second record where I felt they really tried to branch out from their comfort zone.
