                Wasn't Frankie's pickup a stock Gibson PAF ?
It's a shame that families should be torn apart by something as simple as....wild dogs

Perhaps a PAF, but no one REALLY knows for sure. Remember the Frankie replica Fender makes was designed WITHOUT the original on hand. So, I'm really doubting that Ed let them have that pickup to copy. Might be a safer bet to get a Duncan EVH 78 pickup. Seymour supposedly measured that original pickup years ago...

But, didn't Ed slap in a DiMarzio magnet?

HAHAHAH~!! off which guitar, @ what month of what year, with what winding version of that pickup and on what recording specifically?

I get a little chuckle out of this knowing that EVH will probably sell out all 500 pieces, and they'll all probably go to balding fat 50+ year old bastards that can't even play a lick or spend a half an hour a day practicing the instrument who'll spend 4 times that length of every day looking up bullshit about their "hero" thinking if they "could just have what he's got", they'd sound like EVH.

Want a battle-worn EVH sounding pickup? Buy a used Seymour Duncan JB or Alnico Pro 2 humbucker off ebay for 40 bux and peel 600 winds off the slugs-side bobbin. Then get a quart of Muriatic Acid from Home Depot in the cleansers section, dip the thing by the wire in it, dip/dry/repeat about 4 times till you get that green rust goingand install.

Then get a black Sharpie marker and sign the bottom after half a box of Gallo Zinfandel. Anybody can sign for Ed after popping some corks - it's all the same. Fool your neighbors and amaze your friends!

This is something for those caught up with the "Dumbo's Magic Feather" syndrome - you're happy with your sound and playing.

But if you weren't, and the idea of playing thru one of these pickups causes you to pick up the instrument and play more and do less drugs and drinkin then its money well spent.

(cue 5:40 and 7:40) With that note, Ed should buy some of these if he believes in them that much. He could become famous one day and get that Big Fat City Address!

Maybe this d-bag should concentrate on making some new music.

                              LOL!

I remember an interview years ago where he claims the original pickup was yanked out of the guitar by an overzealous fan at the end of a concert in Japan (somewhere around '78/'79 )...

                              Anyone else remember this interview?
