Nice, but I thought the newer Blackmore Strats had three pickups...

Not the "dummy" pup...

It's a shame there are only the two images at the Fender link. I'd really like to get a good look at the neck, in order to determine the depth of the scalloping. The term "Graduated" doesn't really offer much in the way of detail, ya know?

Yeah, though from the pic it does seem to be less drastic a scallop as the Yngwie Strat...

Oh yeah, definitely not the "spooned-out" appearance of the Yngwie guitar. Hell, you could lose a cuff-link playing that thing.

Thanks for the image, J.

If this official, Ritchie Blackmore signature style endorsement doesn't spark a boost in Lute sales across the globe then nothing will!!

He really does, agreed.

It's like, okay, Ritchie...you've done the cliched "I'm giving up the hard rock guitar hero status for the tried-and-true Renaissance Fair revival / return to my English Folk music roots" trip that so many other inactive hard rock heroes have taken:confused:...but time to put the Strat back on, leave the wench offstage and start rocking again.

The Blackmore scallop is more the traditional lute-style "stair-step" version.

This is supposed to be different than the Malmsteens' which is a straight-ahead dishing of the fingerboard. The stairstep goes down a bit from the preceding fret behind it, down to a straight angle stopping just before the fret so as not to cause the fret slot to break out or splinter. Then it is radiused up ever so slightly.

They get this shit wrong, constantly. They should do the obvious correct thing instead of just throwing spaghetti to the wall so to speak seeing what the public buys as opposed to really doing it the right way the first time.

The Eric Johnson model is exactly what it looks like it should be, because otherwise he wouldn't put his name on it. Unfortunately most rock guitarists aren't so critical.

Pretty drastic, moreso than Yngwie's original.

Do you find it comfortable playing or are you used to dancing on the wires by now?

I'd show my neck, it tapers from -85 thousandths at the 22nd fret to about 110 at the nut, something like that, less the height of the fret.

Well it's an 07 upgrade model with deeper scalloping than the previous models.

It's a dream to play.....well it is now that i had a tech sort out the 'factory' quality issues.
Now I'm no techno guitar guy but let me just say that the 'playing' quality of this instrument was just shit .... all for only £1200.

It's probably just the angle of the pic, it wasn't that low in real life!

Well, I Have more scalloped Strats than most people, so let me answer this...

Thouth the types may look different, the effect is very much the same...

The two models with strings on them feel almost identical...

The Blackmore is hotter...
