AC/DC Makes List Of Most Expensive Concerts - Jan. 30, 2009

According to The Pulse of Radio, AC/DC has landed on a list of the 10 most expensive acts to see in concert in 2008, according to NoiseAddict.com. The list was compiled from a range of average prices on Ticketmaster, and did not include prices for resold or scalped tickets. AC/DC came in at No. 4 on the list with an average price of $263, while COLDPLAY landed at No. 8 with an average price of $217. MADONNA topped the list with a whopping $378 average price.

Ironically, it was just a few years ago that AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young told The Pulse of Radio the band tries to keep tickets affordable. "It's value for the dollar," he said. "We like to keep the ticket price down. You know, we're pretty conscious of when we were fans — 'Oh, I couldn't afford to get that one.' So we wanted to keep it a fair price out there."

The Top 10 most expensive concert tickets of 2008 are:

    MADONNA - $378
    ELTON JOHN - $306
    THE EAGLES - $279
    AC/DC - $263
    TINA TURNER - $263
    CELINE DION - $240
    BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - $235
    COLDPLAY - $217
    NEIL DIAMOND - $217
    THE POLICE - $216

As previously reported, AC/DC was the only rock band to make the Top 5 in the Los Angeles Times' list of 2008's "Ultimate Top 20," an annual survey that combines sales of concert tickets, albums, and downloads to measure the popularity of acts with consumers. Other rock acts to make the Top 10 included COLDPLAY, BON JOVI, and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, while METALLICA, DAVE MATTHEWS, and KID ROCK made the overall list.

Regarding AC/DC, who earned a total of $82 million, the Times wrote, "The new 'Black Ice' album took the veteran Australian hard rock band back to the top of the charts and also made its concert tour one of the year's hot tickets."

The Times also noted both AC/DC and KID ROCK largely do not sell their music digitally.
Eat Us And Smile - The Originals

"I have a very belligerent enthusiasm or an enthusiastic belligerence. I’m an intellectual slut." - David Lee Roth

"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth

On a side note, anyone who is prepared to pay that much money to see Madonna should be sterilized.

          Or Coldplay...
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

Yeah it's just greed. What's wrong with making say a million each from a tour rather than trying to make tens of millions?

I'd like to know how much Wolfgang made off the VH tour and if it was more/less or the same as Roth.

What if say you agreed to make 1/3 of what your fair price is for the work you do? EXACTLY.

As far as WalMart goes, who cares how they choose to sell their music. It is more profitable and a creative choice to market only CD's. 800k sold week one in the US is a fine thing to see in this sorry business of mine. Nothing greedy about it.

Not only that, it is 1000% less douchey than Springsteen cutting a deal with Walmart (1 million units, no returns), having his preachy fans call him on it, then shitting all over Walmart by saying "it slipped past him" when the deal was made. Bruce, FUCK YOU...

AC/DC owes nobody an apology. They make the best album they can make, they work hard to sell it, they work even harder on tour and they are worth every dollar they make. The fact they sell 800k week one in this day and age (Springsteen gets 212k this week, after the biggest gig of the year..superbowl) is a miracle and testament to the value the fans find in them. They deserve that money.

I have a huge problem with anyone telling me I can only get an album from one source, so fuck them, piracy it is!

It's nothing but collusion and anti-competitive practices designed to destroy competition. Free Market my a$$!

                      $263 isn't a fair price.

So don't pay it. It's basic economics. You find that to be an unfair amount, but someone else will take that seat at that price.

When nobody does anymore, that price will fall.

How the fuck is someone's free choice about how to display and sell their art collusion? You are a lot closer to collusion when you say that one service will sell all labels wares at one unified price. They tried that in brick n mortar and were successfully sued (for collusion), but online it's ITUNES freedom of choice.

The logic of theft is so threadbare. I guess that's how you live with yourself.

I have only a few choices for schooling for my kids. How about I sit them in your class and don't pay you, because I don't like the building you choose to teach in? Exactly...sounds retarded.
