According to bravewords.com

Good news for all fans of British rock legends UFO: their brand-new studio album, The Visitor, is due out before the end of spring.

The arrival of the album has been set for late May/early June, tour dates will be announced soon.

UFO composed more than 35 new tracks in the run-up to the recordings, 13 of which were short-listed and produced at the studio. 11 of these songs are expected to make it onto the regular album, the other two are scheduled to become bonus tracks for a limited edition digipak.

The current line-up continues to consist of the three original members, Phil Mogg (vocals), Paul Raymond (guitar, keyboards), and Andy Parker (drums), as well as American world-class guitarist Vinnie Moore. Bass legend and original member Pete Way is currently suffering from a liver disease and was unfortunately not available for the studio production.

“All those who have been into UFO for a long time will find all our characteristic trademarks on The Visitor, and anybody new to the band will be impressed by our enthusiasm and dynamism,” frontman Phil Mogg enthuses on the subject of the new songs.

The Visitor sees the band benefiting especially from their collaboration with Vinnie Moore, who joined UFO in autumn 2003 and has made an excellent impression on the albums, You Are Here (2004) and The Monkey Puzzle (2006), and on the band’s tours.

Mogg: “Without running down previous UFO lineups - it’s been a long time since we had a team as strong as this one. Vinnie contributes his youthful energy and amazing guitar technique, and in Andy’s return we’ve seen the reappearance of a musician who has always been very important to the band’s original sound.”

Naturally the band will embark on a major world tour this year. Concert dates will be announced soon, and appearances at the Rock Hard festival at the end of May and the Wacken Open Air at the beginning of August 2009 in Germany have been confirmed.

Release Dates for The Visitor on Steamhammer / SPV:

Germany / Austria / Switzerland: May 29th
UK / rest of Europe: June 2nd
USA / Canada: June 2nd

Too bad Pete Way is not with them anymore.....anyone knows who'll be the new bass player?!

After performances like Schenkers on Pack if Up and Go and the brilliant Walk on Water album, I could never imagine another guitar player doing the right thing in that band.

That Vinne Moore tears Light Out a new asshole!
His playing goes well with that band.
I'm not sure what other fans think of the writing he's done with them.
35 tracks? Just put it all out !

I'm gonna say it (just so it won't happen), but Pete Way will be dead before the end of the year.

Are you his doctor to say something like this?!

Quote from Paul Raymond...

Regarding Pete - he has not been well for some time, our past excesses have caught up with all of us in one way or another but more so with Pete. He is getting treatment for a serious liver complaint and hopefully in time he will recover - its going to take a complete lifestyle change and only time will tell if Pete can be strong enough to do that.

Yeah I kinda understand, cause like Pete said:

"Am I drinking today? Let's put in this way, I'm not not drinking today"

But who knows....a man can change!!!

It sounds to me like they are trying to minimize things... I think it may be too late for change at this point.

As far as the Vinnie Moore UFO discs go... I think 'You Are Here' is excellent but I didn't care much for 'The Monkey Puzzle'.

Exactly!!! There's just a couple of really good songs on "Monkey Puzzle"....and I'm not too enthusiastic about the new release, cause in the later years, Pete Way was the best songwriter of this band!!!

UFO albums w/ Vinnie Moore have been dull in my opinion but he does breathe new life into their concerts. He puts his own stamp on the Schenker solos in a good way.
I'll be praying for Pete.

Finally found myself the new 2009 Chapman-era remasters (No Place To Run - The Wild, The Willing & The Innocent - Mechanix).

03-03-2009, 01:33 PM
Cool...still can't find those remasters anywhere here in my country yet....but they're planning to release soon, so it will be easier than the originals CDs which is almost impossible to find here, including the discs from Michael Schecker era!!

I got them off Amazon... I found a place that was offering two of the three (No Place to Run, TWTWATI) for 8 bucks each... I think I paid 12 for the 3rd (Mechanix). Prior to that I had to buy these CDs from a Japanese website for much more than this. I also bought a CD that had both TWTWATI & Mechanix on the same CD but it was a piece of shit... the songs were horribly chopped up.

The liner notes for these 2008/2009 remasters are awesome. Out of this new batch, the only one I've opened so far is TWTWATI. The notes go into Mogg's obsession with Bruce Springsteen and how it influenced the title of the LP (The Wild The Willing and The Innocent v. The Wild The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle) and how everyone pretty much new Neil Carter was gay before he did (he was married to a chick when he joined UFO).

I don't know why they stuck this live version of 'Lonley Heart' on here as a bonus track... it really sounds bad... if I were Mogg, I wouldn't have allowed it.

Speaking of the Chapman-era UFO... I keep forgetting to search youtube to see if anyone ever posted a clip of Pete Way and Paul Chapman on the Hollywood Squares game show from 1979.

The other day I found on MSN videos a funny interview with Pete Way and Fin from 1984/1985...Pete was really hammered!!!!

Cool info from the liner notes...did the mention something about Bon Scott in the liner notes of "No place to run"?! Cause I read that Phil and Pete was one of the last persons who meet him before his death!!

I keep scouring the internet looking for updates on Pete's condition...
I found these posts from a few weeks back made by Fin at a Waysted forum

The big news is though..... Pete has now STOPPED yes STOPPED!!! drinking!!! He's been told by the experts that it's continue & DIE end of.... So, he has until the 28th. Feb. to get over the cold turkey bit, he's on serious medication too, this is NOT gonna be easy for him... he's been drinkin' the 'Killer in a Can' since I've known him... It's gonna be life changing if he keeps it up & life ending if he don't, simple as...

Pete update: He's not had a drink for 10 days now, he has the BEEEEG session with the psychiatrist on Feb. 13th. & he say's he's not gonna go on the serious medication till after the Limelight gig, (I think it'll depend on what happens on the 13th.) which is a wee bit understandable, but we'll see!!!

He's on top form & I've told him we are all rootin' for him & support him all the WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

Pete did play a brief gig with Waysted on 2/28/09 here's a picture of Pete striking a 'Weekend At Bernie's' pose.

TWTWATI is probably my favourite UFO album.

No Schenker guitar pyrotechnics but the songs are solid.

If they were going to count 'Showtime' then why not 'Strangers...'
I guess they'd argue 'Ain't Misbehavin' as a studio release.
Since it has been rumored that this will be the last UFO release, they wanted to end it on a milestone number like 20 instead of 19.

Any UFO fans check out the Mogg stuff outside of UFO?
Mogg/Way (which kinda was UFO back when Schenker was holding the name hostage) and $ign of Four which is like a Mogg solo album.

I have first Mogg/Way CD Edge of the World and after the high of Walk on Water it felt flat. I hear that the 2nd CD Chocolate Box is better but I never dropped the coin. In my opinion Mogg's lyrical well is running dry.
I have The Plot ~ a Schenker/Way project with Pete on vocals. It's raw and basic but I enjoy it as Pete's character shines through.
After ignoring MSG for years I bought In The Midst Of Beauty. Schenker reunites with original singer Gary Barden. It's solid but a bit too produced as all songs sound the same. MSG plays House of Blues in Hollywood tonight. I might go and try to score a ticket.

Waysted with Fin is it.

Sorry for the long post, but I'm really bored...

I bought the 'Vices' lp when it was released back in '83. I listened to it once and since Fin didn't sound like Phil Mogg, I dismissed it and traded it away to a friend. Back then, we used to trade albums like baseball cards so a few months later I got it back, listened to it again and loved it ever since. I bought the CD version a few years ago but it sounds like crap... it's one of those CDs that is mastered way too loud... to the point where I found it unlistenable. I've recently assembled the hardware and software I needed to rip some of my vinyl collection to digital (nothing bank breaking). 'Vices' was an album that was at the top of my ripping list, but my copy was pretty worn out and had some skips. Luckily I found someone selling a "near-mint" copy online for only $5. I finally found time to do the rip last night. I know it's overkill, but I ripped it at 24-bit/192kHz (the CDs you buy are done at 16-bit/44.1 kHz)... I figured why not, I have the space to hold the files (the finished wav files came in at 2.28 gigs). I was watching '24' while the album was ripping so I used Nero to burn the wav's onto a CD-R so I could listen for any glitches on the way to work, and the fucking thing sounded awesome. There were a few tiny clicks during the intro to 'Toy With The Passion' but not anything that I would subject to altering through a software clean-up. The main problem was that the software I used (Acoustica's 'Spin It Again') cut the fades on two tracks (Sleazy, Somebody To Love) prematurely but I'm sure there's a simple adjustment that will take care of that (I probably should have split the tracks manually instead of relying on the software to do it), but in my haste I deleted the master wav's and now have to rip it again. I also have the 'Waysted mini-lp' and 'The Good, The Bad And The Waysted' but like my copy of 'Vices'... these aren't in great shape and I haven't been able to find replacement copies. I've read some good reviews concerning Spin It Again's ability to clean up clicks and crackles so I'm looking forward to putting it to the test with these lps.

I found this hidden in the noticeboard at melodicrock... comments from Fin concerning the state of Pete Way...

"I'm limited in what I can/should say... It's his life & he don't want me airing his laundry (what laundry?) in public... but... As I'm the one who’s been blessed with keepin’ everyone up to speed (got any coke?), as best I can on his condition & form, (cos he can't & she don't) through the Waysted forum (now no more), & cos I'm his pal & we speak most days & I also know that a LOT of you (like myself), care about the man & want to know how he is.

Well… yet again he's been ‘economical’ with the truth to me. 'I've been as good as gold', 'I've been to the gym', and ‘Ironically enough I only had one glass of wine'!!! Don't work anymore, he's got to face it!!!

The facts as they stand today are not good & if something isn't done about it real soon, then he's not gonna last much longer, he has got to go to rehab!!! That’s just for starters; he's got to have a life changing experience of biblical proportions as well!!!

Please let it be arise St. Peter & not St. Tommy.

Just downloaded 'The Visitor' off Amazon... figured I'd probably have a hard time finding it a store. This is the same producer who did 'The Monkey Puzzle'. I didn't like his work on Mogg's vocals the last time and it sounds the same this time. Sounds like a demo tape.

Four songs in and I'm pretty angry about this disc.
The songs are great, but Phil's vocals are crap... or should I say the production on Phil's vocals are crap... and since this has been hinted at being the last UFO studio release, I'm extra disappointed.
If this was in the hands of someone like Brendan O'Brien (who resurrected Brian Johnson's voice on Black Ice) this would have been a five star album. This would have stood proudly with the great Chapman-era discs. Damn shame.
