Natasha Richardson's Organs Donated

(March 25) - As the loved ones of Natasha Richardson continue to mourn, a family decision made in the wake of the Tony-winning actress's sudden death March 18 has brought a measure of comfort: After Richardson was taken off life support at Manhattan's Lenox Hill Hospital, her family requested that her organs be donated to other patients whose lives they might save.

Class act by the family....

Sometimes, those decisions are taken prior to someone's death. Here, there is publicity on organ donation encouraging people to at least, consider and talk about it with the family. We get to sign an agreement (if we want to) as renewing our driver's liscence.

I always signed that agreement form and my family knows that anything can be taken for either; organ donation or science studies.

Might as well help instead of burnin' it all up!

Trouble with the driver's license thing is there's a lot of cash to be made on organ donation. If something bad happened to you, wouldn't you want to be given every possible treatment before they decide to harvest?

Organ donation is great. Make sure your family knows your wishes. DON'T tell the DMV.

Personally, I don't have to worry about that...

In this province (and the other ones, I think), it's a non-lucrative organisation ran by the government that has total control of organ donations in any given situation, when a person is deceised. Same with blood donations. The reason is to have the same mission as our overall health care system; To be fairly accessible and free for EVERY citizens!

Hollywood treats this subject in a couple movies too... Same with the organ theft on a living victim...

But I can see how in a country where mostly the rich can access the very best treatments, there can be every kind of horrible stories goin' on (like black market, for one) and it can be all about money.
