    Giants Release WR Burress

The decision comes only two days after a grievance hearing regarding the team’s decision to retain $1 million in signing bonus money that was earned last September and due to be paid in December, after Burress blew a hole through his leg with a loaded gun he was toting in the waistband of his sweatpants.

Chad (OchoCinco) Johnson is on the trade block, and after the release of Burress, the Giants need a number one receiver. Giants, Dolphins, Redskins, Jets, Bears and Eagles have interest.

At least outwardly, Plaxico Burress doesn’t seem to be fazed by the New York Giants’ decision to cut ties with him, according to Matt Mosley of ESPN.com.

The currently unemployed wide receiver and former Michigan State star attended the Final Four, rooting the Spartanson as they defeated Connecticut to advance to the NCAA championship.

Per the article, Burress laughed and posed for photographs while attending the game at Ford Field with his wife and former college teammates.

“I feel great,” Burress said when asked to react to being cut from the Giants’ roster.

Burress, whose next court date is June 15 for a gun charge that may ultimately be settled via a plea bargain, declined to answer other questions before leaving the game.

The Giants stood by him long enough.Hes agreat talent who just doesnt get it.You have to figure he will do some jail time a few months or so and he is done for the year they have to move on.As for who is available i dont want Chad johnson,Braylon Edwards is a big receiver who would fit or even better Bouldin if they trade him.Im not panicking worst case scenario draft a big wr in the first round or trade up for Crabtree. One thing is certain Manning needs a #1 wr.what about a stopgap likr tory holt who i believe is still good?Marvin Harrison....could at least help with the young guys.

Your right. No need to panic just yet, could find a diamond in the rough in the draft. If not, the minor guys will just have to step up. Tory Holt would be a good fit, but it appears that the Jaguars and Titans are both fighting to sign him, and Marvin Harrison is contemplating retirement.

Well, it wasn’t such a bad few days for former Giants receiver Plaxico Burress, after all.

A league source tells us that Burress has won his grievance against the Giants.

As a result, Burress will be entitled to receive his full signing bonus.

The Giants had withheld a $1 million payment that had been owed to Burress in December. But he actually earned the signing bonus when he signed his contract in September.

Of course, none of this changes the fact that Burress currently has no team, and likely will have a hard time getting anyone to sign him unless and until the current cloud hanging over his head regarding New York weapons charges is resolved in a manner that doesn’t involve a 3.5-year prison stay.

At a time when new Bears quarterback Jay Cutler reportedly has tried to get receiver Plaxico Burress onto the team, new Bears tackle Orlando Pace has another option in mind.

                      Torry Holt.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Pace wants the Bears to sign his former Rams teammate.

“I spoke to Torry,” Pace said. “It’s funny he was just probably at my house a few days before I even came here. I think he’s just out searching. I’m probably recruiting him in Chicago here. And hopefully it works out.”
