BTW, the guitar being played in the clip upside down is the exact guitar for sale. Compare the neck grain...

I was looking at getting a similar guitar from another guy Red Dog Guitars (http://reddogguitars.com/) who makes them, and i also spoke to him, but his prices have topped $600!

This thing for $199 is basically the same thing...

This is a modified version of the Red Dog I was gonna buy...

Very cool. The hot-rodded model sounds absolutely evil. :notworthy:

That hot rodded ones is one of the expensive types...

Over two years ago when I started discussing having one built with the builder himself, they were around $300 and that was cool...

Now they are over $600...

I'm gonna call the guy who builds the first one I posted (his number is on his ebay page) and see what we can put together...

Well, I just got off the phone with the guy, Fuzzy Whitener (http://www.geocities.com/fuzzyblues1/) and he is really awesome!

Talked for about an hour from everything regarding Stratocasters to Van Halen...

He's a real musician from Texas who has made his living playimg music. He builds these guitars 100% by hand himself and they sound awesome...

Sarge, it's not what they look like, it's the tone...

Did you listen to to those viseos I posted ??

Turns out, Fuzzy is a Texas blues legend...

Click on this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKQG8-ZaEi8) silly video...

I'm in awe of speking with this man for nearly an hour...

Like I said, I was initially interested in buying one of the Red Dog guitars but the prices have skyrocketed...

John, who builds Red Dog Guitars by hand and Fuzzy who does the same, are friends...

These are no toys...

Hell yeah. Thing looks cool. If you are gonna get a kick out of it, go for it. That's what your disposable income is there for. My question is does the cigar box smell good. I have one with some coins in it and every time I open it this awesome smell wafts out of it. During breaks between songs, it would be cool if you could get a cigar to pop out of it. Invent one that dispenses Marlboros and it could be the next EVH signature guitar.

E, shared this thread with a friend today. The fellow is a non-musician, yet he was instantly impressed by the brand of cigars the box held. I initially attempted to interest him in the sound of the thing, yet he kept going back to the imagery and construction.

What can I tell ya, karma-wise it appears cool. ;)

Looks and sounds fairly nifty. Keep us updated as this goes along.

Never know when an intern might sit down
and listen to you play :D

Interesting. I would'nt mind getting one. But I certainly wouldn't spend any more than $200 for something like this.
I could play the shit outta one of these.:D

So how does it play Unca E ??

Strings in pic look light guage for Bass ?
Funky looking grain on the fretboard....
But I like it....

Will it sit safely in the knowledge you wont
attack it with your phillips head screwdriver ? :D
Or are you filing the nut as we speak ?? :)

timeframe.....

ELVIS

LMAO!

Well, for starters, I got it to open when it was initially screwed and glued shut...still has the original paper and logo inside which is cool...

I'm dressing the fret ends, but i'm leaving the nut and bridge alone until i've played it a bit. I don't want to screw something up that was done purposely. The strings are high, but it's meant to be played with a slide, which a copper one was included with the guitar, but I already madeone myself...but i'm shopping and reading about different materials. Fuzzy (the craftsman / player who made the thing) said brass sounds the best with the strings he set it up with, which are acoustic and seem to be a light guage...

The Piezo pickup under the bridge sounds bad on anything except a super clean setting. My Jimi Hendrix Diditech pedal really wakes it up...

And BTW, I really can't say enough about my JHE pedal. I use it for everything...guitar, bass, vocals, drums or whatever, when I stray from my main guitar sound using my ADA MP1 among many things...and i've never really used it to play Hendrix stuff. It's just the most versitle, realistic and clean sounding "pedal" i've ever touched, and Digitech's digital recreation of 60's type studio plate reverb is astounding and worth the price alone...

http://www.airportmusic.com/images/jpgs/Dig_JHE.jpg

But...

I'm going to install a pickup near the neck. I spoke to Fuzzy about this and he said he has done it and would do it for me, but I want to. He told me about a small humbucker made by Artec that would be easy to install, but I haven't found it yet...

But it's mandatory...I could never use this guitar at a gig or at any real volume without a good pickup...

Ashton VSG Cigars Tres Mystique 24 Ct. Box

The VSG is blended exclusively for Ashton by Carlos Fuente Jr. using 4 to 5 year old aged Dominican tobacco taken from the finest and most fertile plants. The distinct flavor of VSG comes from its wrapper grown on a private estate in Ecuador owned by the Oliva family where this proprietary wrapper leaf is grown for the Fuente Family exclusively for Ashton VSG. The leaf is taken from the higher primings and matures slowly by sunlight filtered through the region¹s natural cloud covering. The result is the rich intoxicating wrapper which has made the Ashton VSG the most in demand cigar on the market today.

Country of Origin: Dominican Republic

PRICE: $185.00

I would like this mini Arctec TV Jones style pup, but it's about 2.8" long and the distance between the sound holes on the guitar is 2.5"

http://www.diyguitars.net/pictures/artec/Mvh6-cr-1.jpg

So...

The search is on...

I also want to find another Ashton label to ad some character to the headstock...

These things are cool though. The thought of building and selling them myself. If i could get fast at installing and doing a quality fret dressing, I could build these things in no time...
