Hi,
I just got sonar cakewalk 7.
I use to have this problem before with another version but fixed it but now i forgot how to fix it with sonar 7.
I have 8 tracks.
I record a vocal in track one.
Then i goto track 2 and record another vocal but it also copies track 1.
I want everything on separate tracks.
Please help.

Ok wild guess here..
If you are not using headphones, the mic is picking up
the first track from your monitors ? :)

Hi Panamark!
I'll check out reaper.
I'm using headphone.
On my other pc cakewalk old version works fine but this one picks up the vocals of previous tracks.
It's crazy..it's fucking pissing me off..LOL
Gonna check reaper now.

Looking at your screenshot you are recording mono tracks with two input devices selected
realtek (l and R) and Master

Ah I know what it is..

Its in your soundcard setup..

I know on the Soundblaster Audigy its
Turn off the "Record What you hear option" in the SB mixer.

Realtek probably has a similar setup in its audio setup..
Hey get a real digital audio interface :D

wow..thanks man..almost there maybe.
This is what i got now.
It records the vocal without the first track mixing with it.
The only thing is that when I record the 2nd track I can't hear the first track in the background because I put MASTER off in track 1.

:) Wha to do?

Hey mark...

I have Realtek as well as Audigy 2 ZS, the latter i'm waiting for a cable to arrive along with my firewire which is due to be here on monday...

But what one do you prefer. I like the Sound Blaster options beter than the realtek...

:elvis:

When you hook up the Firewire Solo, its like another soundcard
again. You select it from the input devices. You wont have the
same prob as listed above. You wont need to worry about the
sound blaster settings ! From memory it overides the SB when
you select the firewire.. If not its only minimal tweakage to
disable any existing or onboard sound cards.

Comparing the two, I like the SB software better, but the realtek
hardware is neat (how it can autosense between speakers
and mics is pretty neat) Very close IMO, The Audigy probably
wins for output performance. For proper recording, neither will
beat a dedicated digital interface..

I hear ya and I understand...

I plan to use the SB for my MiniDisc stuff...

Just wonderin'

Thanks my brother from a diferent mother...;)

P.S. How's the missus ??

Missus is glowing :D

She looks great ! Thanks :)

You might be surprised by the playback quality of
the M-audio, it does have stereo and Spdif/coax
output...... (Even in non multitrack apps)

Yeah, I was reading up on it. But the SB card has optical I&O which all three of my minidisc recorders have...
