It is a magnificent live record.

The Greatest? Not too sure about that, but UFO were on fire back in the day..

        This could go on forever.

I don`t think there is one greatest live album.

It`s definetly one of them anyway.

A UFO live album of the Walk on Water material may have surpassed Strangers.

MSG Live At Budokan (new and improved version has Cozy Powell solo)

For vehicles 300 horsepower and above, Sonrisa is correct in that there is no more a perfect or appropriate live rock recording than the UFO one.

This record was done at a unique time in history for rock music, at a hiatus in analogue recording technology, the best producers on it engineering the thing.. and the tipping point in Schenker's life. After this, he quit UFO he says Phil Mogg kept hitting him.

Kinda like how Ozzy kept hitting Randy, saying he'd never do it again apologize then fight again.

Michael Schenker: off his nut, completely alcoholic, succombing to heroin addiction.. he'd get arrested then pull the plumbing out of his jail cell with his bare hands, get bailed out, perform the next night like the weekend before didn't happen.

The man is gifted beyond mortals in all guitar: melody, structure, composition, tone, dexterity, recommanding the blues modes to sit up and beg for the doggie treat.

It's not possible to beat such a benchmark without destroying the bench, or the invention of a different class of drugs altogether.. so it's not going to happen in OUR lifetime.

Strangers in the Night is not considered a metal disc, but it is very heavy.

The live version of Lights Out from this album is the one you always hear...instead of the studio version

                      Outstanding live album...one the best.

A real nice variable to throw into this thread...when talking of other albums...how about best live "Untouched" recording.

                      That would eliminate Kiss...

He had a unique wingspan for humans.
After gigs he transformed himself into a Teradactyl and flew to the next gig.

It begs to be played on eleven.

One of my favorite live albums is my 2lp version of Whitesnake's 'Live... In The Heart Of The City'. I was just listening to it this morning on the way in to work (I was able to digitize it). Awesome live version of the song 'Trouble'.

Totally agree. There are too many live albums that are like that. I hate it when i hear that a live album had the vocal tracks re-recorded or other band members' performances altered.
