YEAH!

New live album "A Touch Of Evil - Live".

Judas Rising
Hellrider
Between The Hammer And The Anvil
Riding On The Wind
Death
Beyond The Realms Of Death
Dissident Aggressor
A Touch Of Evil
Eat Me Alive
Prophecy
Painkiller

I thought set looked a bit weak but it`s actually refreshing to hear a few rare classics.

The sounds amazing too, not like the very thin "`98 Live Meltdown" or "Live In London".

The only problem is Ian Hill`s bass is mixed way down and Halford`s vocals occasionally have annoying harmonizer effects on them.

This is second only to "Unleashed in the East".

Buy with confidence!

I was pleasantly surprised too. Upon seeing the setlist, I thought it was a pointless release (why not a double live album?). However, it sounds so good that I quickly forgot my reservations.

Meh. Not super excited about yet another JP live album. I'll give it a listen though, see what happens...

ah, but it's so nice that it feels like Halford never left. Now if only VH would start releasing so much stuff that we start to get bored of them I'd be thrilled to death.

Is it just a CD or is there also a DVD?

At least it's a way to experience a Priest show without having to look at elderly gentlemen in spandex fronted by Liberace in leather... :)

On a related note wasn't 'Metal Gods' great!? I used to play that LOUD in front of my roommate's yuppie Dave Matthews-worshiping boyfriend after they broke up and he didn't get the hint it was over between them.

Saw this on the Tube the other day, and came away impressed how well these guys played live in 1982...

I just read a the book 'The Hit Factory' about Stock, Aitken & Waterman

Mike Stock says that JP were desperate for a hit so approached Stock, Aitken & Waterman.

From Wikipedia -
Stock Aitken Waterman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stock_Aitken_Waterman)

In 1988-89, SAW recorded three tracks with Judas Priest. These tracks were never released, and are said to be in Judas Priest's possession.

------

This is the home of Kylie Minogue & Jason Donovan...

What were Priest thinking FFS!

Would love to hear those tapes though LOL

Been listening to this a bit the last few days.

As was mentioned the sound is very good. The playing from the band is also very good. Track list is very short, but I guess this is just for hardcore fans that want songs that aren't on many other Priest LIVE cds.

I also almost wonder how much "Studio touch up" was done on this one.

Regardless, it is worth a listen if you are a Priest fan.

Scott Travis is a local boy from Norfolk, he's a pretty damn good drummer, especially on Judas Rising...

Looks like Priest is doing a LIVE DVD also.....

JUDAS PRIEST'S UPCOMING SOUTHERN FLORIDA SHOW WILL BE FILMED FOR A LIVE DVD:
It is hard to pinpoint when heavy metal history is going to be made. However, an upcoming event will surely be one of the few times you know for sure that it will. Judas Priest will be filming their upcoming August 17th performance at the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, FL, for a DVD that will be included in a forthcoming expanded 30th Anniversary edition of their 1980 classic, 'British Steel.' As with all of their U.S. summer dates this year, Priest has been performing the album in its entirety from front to back. With the band playing the entire 'British Steel' repertoire, the August 17th show at the Seminole Hard Rock Arena in Hollywood, Florida (which will be one of the last of this US Summer '09 tour) will surely capture Priest at their peak!! Not to be missed!!
'British Steel' has long been considered one of metal's all-time classics. It was with this release that Priest truly broke through to the masses, with a pair of tracks that have become fixtures on rock radio - the enduring anthems “Breaking the Law” and “Living After Midnight.” But like all classic albums, there is not a single weak track detected on 'British Steel,' as evidenced by such standouts as the perennial concert highlight, “Metal Gods,” as well as “Rapid Fire,” “Grinder,” “United,” and “The Rage,” among others.
Produced by Tom Allom, 'British Steel' was recorded at Tittenhurst Park in England - which is a mansion owned at the time by former Beatle Ringo Starr, and previously owned by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. In 2001, the album was remastered and reissued with extra bonus tracks, and also, was the subject of an in-depth study as part of the popular 'Classic Albums' DVD series.
So come on out on August 17th and cheer the mighty Priest on as they document on stage an album that has served as the perfect metal summer soundtrack year after year and constantly picks up new converts.........don't miss your chance to be included in this rare DVD footage!

Hard to get excited over a DVD of Halford standing still, hunched over, reading a teleprompter.

It'll sell all of 50 copies, but I'm looking forward to this all the same when I've got some money. I bought Shout At The Devil today, and Superunknown....probably get it in 3 or 4 weeks time once those have sunk in.

Maybe it'll make me feel less guilty about not bothering to buy the new Maiden live album. I don't like how they muted the crowd sound too much in that.

Hard to get excited over a DVD of Halford standing still, hunched over, reading a teleprompter.

I see it more as a "metal" moment seeing Halford on stage, singing. It's dramatic and interesting and kinda spectacular to observe but that sounds more like a painting. I agree it's not easy to get excited as such despite me thinking it'll be mighty entertaining. I don't get the teleprompter thing....having seen Priest this year, I can say I rarely saw Halford stopping to look at his teleprompter. He might not sprint (no way he can with all that heavy gear he has on anyway), but he's rarely in one spot often enough for it to be possible that he's relying on that thing much. I imagine he just uses it to glance at once in a while, that's how it seemed, like after a chorus "Oh, this is the verse that starts with _____ as the opening line" and after that he's fine again.

I bet he regrets admitting he uses one big time. The "lots of us use one!" thing hasn't been accepted by anyone, though it's probably true.

Halford's biggest problem is that he believes his own hype......
