I'd rank Malcolm as #2 after Keith.

The backup guitarist in this band has never gotten any props. Here he is without Joe Perry.

Guess what hugely popular band began to suck ass after this guy left.

It's a shame that families should be torn apart by something as simple as....wild dogs

                      Malcolm Young !

Keef # 2 only coz he cant play the galloping rhythms and
Malcolm always uses real standard tuning... None of this lay one finger
across the fretboard to get a complete chord sound.... Malcolm is
                      Da man.......

Hard to think of other dedicated Hard Rock rhythm players,
all the bands that spring to mind had dual leads....

Izzy ? j a rock already said him...

                            BTW, it`s Adrian Smith.

                            Boy, that`s a small picture.

Tough thread... most of my favorite bands were power trios or power trios with a singer.

I think Hendrix and EVH's most notable strengths were their rhythm playing and compositions. But that's always been under-shadowed by their lead playing.

Malcomb & Keith are excellent and obvious choices.

                              Other notables:

Gary Rossington, Allen Collins and Steve Gaines of Lynyrd Skynyrd all shared rhythm duties.

                              Phil Collen of Def Leppard.

Dave Rlubek, Duane Rolland & Steve Holland of Molly Hatchet

George McCorkle of the Marshall Tucker Band

Pat Simons of the Doobie Brothers

                              Joe Strummer of the Clash

                              Ray Davies of the Kinks
