The reason people think that the 70s and 80s were Golden Ages is simply because only the great stuff passes into collective memory - all the shit 'metal' in those decades gets forgotten. There has been great stuff in the 00s too, it's just that the demise of rock radio means that it really doesn't get the exposure it deserves.

After seeing Tony Iommi and Jimmy Page in a crowd for one of their gigs one time, I think you can safely say they're authentic.

I haven't heard any new material yet, I know all of them bar the singer quit after the first album tour.
