i have to give best album of the 00's to Axl for chinese democracy (take it easy on me,its just MY opinion). I think that album is a hard hitting roller coaster of uncompramising rock and deep heart felt ballards.

Either that or paul stanleys live to win, For much the same reasons as listed above

Being younger and British my list's interesting to compare to the ones you guys put together. Like nothing Bruce Springsteen did this decade clocked up on my radar at all, or Rush, and you guys all seem to dig them. Not saying they're bad...I just didn't have the urge to check them out. I was too busy checking out these bad boys:

AlicE Cooper's "Along Came A Spider"

Every Opeth release - "Blackwater Park", "Deliverance", "Damnation", "Ghost Reveries" and "Watershed".

"United Abominations" by Megadeth

Down's "Down II: A Bustle In Your Hedgerow" and "Down III: Over The Under"

Velvet Revolver's "Contraband" and "Libertad"

Aerosmith's "Honkin' On Bobo"

Nightwish's "Once", "Century Child" and "Dark Passion Play"

Voodoo Six's "First Hit For Free"

The Morning After's "You Can't Hurt Steel"

Blaze Bayley's "Silicon Messiah"

Iced Earth's "Framing Armageddon (Something Wicked Part One)"

Def Leppard's "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge"

AC/DC's "Black Ice" - special note to "Stiff Upper Lip"'s title track for being the best song they've done since the "Razor's Edge" album even if the rest of SUL isn't that special

Whitesnake's "Good To Be Bad"

Oasis' "Don't Believe The Truth" and "Dig Out Your Soul"

Motley Crue's "Red White & Crue" - sure it only had four new songs but what new songs!

Amon Amarth's "Twilight Of The Thunder God"

KoRn's untitled album

Heaven & Hell's "The Devil You Know

Black Stone Cherry's "Black Stone Cherry" and "Folklore & Superstition"

The Darkness' "One Way Ticket To Hell...And Back" and "Permission To Land"

Stone Gods' "Silver Spoons & Broken Bones"

Brides Of Destruction's self-titled

Sixx: A.M.'s "The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack"

Tommy Lee's "Tommyland: The Ride"

Chickenfoot's self-titled

Buckcherry's "15"

Chris Cornell's "Scream"

Audioslave's "Audioslave"

Deathstars' "Termination Bliss" and "Night Electric Night"

Deli Creeps' "Dawn of the Deli Creeps"

System Of A Down's "Steal This Album!", "Mezmerize" and "Hypontize"

Dimmu Borgir's "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia", "El Sorte Diaboli" and "Stormblåst MMV"

Eric Clapton's "Me & Mr. Johnson"

Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy"

Hardcore Superstar's "Dreamin' In A Casket"

Judas Priest's "Angel Of Retribution" and "Nostradamus"

Iron Maiden's "Brave New World", "Dance Of Death" and "A Matter Of Life & Death" - also two of their live records "Rock In Rio" and "Death On The Road"

Jet's "Get Born"

Journey's "Revelation"

Trivium's "The Crusade" and "Shogun"

KISS' "KISS Symphony"

Marilyn Manson's "HolyWood", "The Golden Age of Grotesque", and "Eat Me, Drink Me"

Thunder's "Robert Johnson's Tombstone", "Bang!" and "The Magnificent Seventh"

The Answer's "Rise"

The Rolling Stones' "A Bigger Bang", "Shine A Light" and "Forty Licks" (for the four bonus tracks)

Within Temptation's "The Heart Of Everything"

Tesla's "Forever More"

Under The Influence of Giants' "Under The Influence of Giants"

The 69 Eyes' "Angel" and "Hollywood Kills: Live At The Whiskey A Go Go"

Machine Head's "The Blackening"

Slipknot's "All Hope Is Gone", "9.0: Live", "Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses)" and "Iowa"

David Lee Roth's "Diamond Dave"

Wolfmother's "Wolfmother"

Dream Theater's "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence", "Train of Thought" and "Systematic Chaos"

Ozzy's "Down To Earth" and "Black Rain" (BR isn't that great, it's just great to know Ozzy's still alive and kicking and sounding like Ozzy, to be honest)

Airbourne's "Runnin' Wild" (not that special but at least we know we'll survive when AC/DC keel over)

Evile's "Enter The Grave"

Turisas' "The Varangian Way" and "Battle Metal"

Halford's "Resurrection"

Fair old mix of old, young and reunion work in there.

I seriously cant even come up with one....

Everything is so pre-formulated /pro-tools /
and plaguerised from years gone by that nothing
sounds fresh and exciting ?

Hope it fucking changes real soon...

Maybe what you hear on the radio, but there is always great music out there if you are prepared to search for it. The reason people think that the 70s and 80s were Golden Ages is simply because only the great stuff passes into collective memory - all the shit 'metal' in those decades gets forgotten. There has been great stuff in the 00s too, it's just that the demise of rock radio means that it really doesn't get the exposure it deserves.

Fair point.

I'm just saying that we only remember the good records from the 60s, 70s and 80s, and take those to be 'typical' of the decade. The cream always rises - there are plenty of good records released today, it's just that they you might have to dig around to find 'em.

Iced Earth's The Glorious Burden

You really liked it more than Framing Armageddon?

I thought that Framing had so much shit going on in terms of layers of sound, it made you feel much more *there*. Much better vocals too.

I know KISS are the last place any of us would look for authenticity but their new album's being recorded in analogue. That's not common these days.

These guys are pretty cool....

After seeing Tony Iommi and Jimmy Page in a crowd for one of their gigs one time, I think you can safely say they're authentic.

I haven't heard any new material yet, I know all of them bar the singer quit after the first album tour.

But there was no rock radio here then but there is now???

Planet Rock Radio. Go. NOW.
