What? No EVH lawsuit for Gibson?

    Epiphone Musical Instruments - News

I'm surprised Ed and his gang of lawyers hasn't taken action on Gibson/Epiphone for this. He sure cancels all the ebay listing for his 'trademark'.

Nothing he can really sue for if that guitar is just a trophy piece for the tourny. I used to wakeboard but had to quit about 10 years ago. Dang, looking at those pics...bindings have sure evolved quite a bit. Would be cool to have a custom EVH board.

Could be Epiphone or Mastercraft licenced it from Ed...

not while Ed is "working" for Fender. no way Fender lets him license something to the competition.

they probably don't have a claim since it isn't for sale. if the recipient tries to sell it on Ebay, i bet they'd be all over it.

That's far more blatant than anything a shoe company ever did.

I'd thought about that... I don't think Ed's working "for" Fender. EVH gear is another equipment line and FMC does the manufacturing. Could be possible Fender is working for Ed... More likely just a business partnership with Ed holding the keys.

Also Ed owns the copyright, trademark rights, etc. exclusively for the stripe pattern. Fender doesn't.

Both Mastercraft Boats and Gibson are pretty much legit, well established companies. They probably hired some graphic artist to design those guitars specifically as "trophies" with no intention of ever marketing them. Then it's just a simple matter of sending the design to Ed's Intellectual Property Goon Squad... Ed reviews and signs off on permission to use his design.

Given the profiles and companies involved... I'd assume their legal teams covered the legit bases up front rather than rip off a known guitar god unit.
