Humble, happy and itching to get on the road. Fontana native son and all-around good-time guy Sammy Hagar says he's back where he belongs: On tour with Van Halen.
It's been six years since Van Halen released a new song and almost a decade since Hagar left the band after 11 years as a replacement for original singer David Lee Roth. The split was less than amicable, caused in part by Hagar's refusal to take part in a greatest hits package. A phone conversation and meeting with Alex Van Halen sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas changed all that. "I've been saying this for 100 years: 'I've got to call Alex' - and I finally did," Hagar said. (WTF..gs)
Alex met with Hagar and called his brother, guitar legend Eddie Van Halen. Alex said, 'Let's make a record. Let's make some music.' There comes a point in time you've just got to drop it and forget it." (Here let me drop thissssssss (load) Alex….gs)
Once in the studio, Hagar said he knew the magic was back.. "It was there, boom, pure spontaneous creativity," he said. (Rightttt could really tell with the release of “It’s About Afterbirth”…gs)
Hagar said the bandmates quickly realized they needed to get back on the road and began work on a tour that brings "It all happened so fast and freaky," he said. "It snowballed, and we're still running and full speed trying to catch up." Alex called it "less of a reunion than it is a continuation. Hagar agreed. " (continuation of what……fuckkkkkkkk…..gs)
"I think the fans need it and we need it and it has to happen," Hagar said. "It's a great, joyful thing." (We needed it, righttt like masturbating with a cheese grater…gs)
