The downward spiral of Van Halen, from 1996 onward.
Of course a point can be made that Van Halen has been going downhill since Roth left in 1985, but 1986-1995 saw Sam Halen move some albums and fill some concert halls, so it's not like that was a commercial flop (just a musical one).
Just all the suicidal career moves EVH, AVH and their 'Van Halen sans Roth' enablers (Sam, Mike and Gary) have undertaken since the 1996 MVAs, steadily turning the name 'Van Halen' into a total fucking joke (even Gary Cherone realized this band was a dead duck with no future and bailed in 1999, and that's pretty sad that the lead singer of lame-ass Extreme realizes something about Van Halen that Ed and Al either don't or refuse to).
Wonder if in his supposed, self-professed moments of clarity, Ed looks back on the summer of 1996 as a great opportunity totally fucking blown, and wishes he hadn't given his fans the finger. Doubt it. Ed and Al probably think everything is still fine in La-la land. Pretty much wished the worst for those two fuckers after they duped Roth nearly ten years ago, and although the fact that they were able to make some money off the Van Halen name last year without Roth being there indictaes my ill-wishes didn't come to full fruition, the skids are being continually greased. Got no use for 'em other than putting out some classic, previously unreleased live video. Sorta sad that I feel that way about two guys who were part of one of my favorite bands, but they deserve all the ill-will directed towards them.Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment
