    Tommy

Tommy is one of the most influential pieces of music history in my life that I never heard in its entirety.
From picking up the album off my brother dresser when barely old enough to read, only to have him take it from my hands saying, “That’s not for me.” To looking for it and other music hidden in my brother’s room in a house where "worldly" music was frowned upon at best and finding the albums with the "apple" on them in-between his mattresses.
This rock opera always held a mystery for me. Having Pink Floyd's "The Wall" as the rock opera that I knew, I must say Pink Floyd’s “The Wall’ is great I can almost feel the rise and fall of a megalomaniac demagogue superstar falling out of control. In addition, “Jesus Christ Superstar” shines as a brilliant example of modern story telling through music. I often wondered why there was not dynamic work that told a story fully developed. Pieces that are like audio books, which the music is an ingrained part of the painting the story. A story that can stand-alone but is also enhanced by the visuals.

I have not watched it yet. I am going to do that now.

Hulu - Tommy - Watch the full feature film now.

I didn't know it could not be embedded. Still worth a watch maybe.

Wow. Glad I saw it. Not sure what I think of it,...
    for sure, at least yet.
I will listen to it a few more time without watching it. It wasn't quite what I was expecting,
but then again, I am not sure what I was expecting. I had no idea what "Tommy" the opera was about prior to watching it. Even with the cartoonishness (or flatness or 2d .. I am not sure what to call it) it was rich with intrigue. What is it about rock operas and cartooning?

          It is rated PG.
But, I think had they really gave it the content it would have and should have been rated R at least.
Ramstien has spoiled me. I expect realistic content. Don't fake it for the PG. Either it is adult content or not.
If it is don't fake it to take the child dollar. :annoyed:

I don't know why I confuse Peter Frampton with this movie. That guy is not Peter Frampton.
Thanks for the vid. I am outta thanks buttons.

I've recently been playing the hell out of the Tommy album. What a fookin brilliant piece of work. I prefer to listen to the album over watching the movie, any day.

Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

I prefer the film soundtrack to the album.

Throduction is very flat on the original and the synths on the soundtrack give it some real pomp.

The original does really sound quite thin and underwhelming in terms of production at times.

First time I was really aware of it was when it came out on CD; had listened to it as a kid a ton on vinyl, and it sounded better on vinyl with everything bleeding together.

The early Beatles albums are the same way for me.
