Andre Dawson is elected to the hall...does he deserve it?

What makes a guy worthy of the hall after not being voted in eight or nine years in a row?

He's better than Jim Rice, that's for sure...

...and...is he going in as a Cub...or an Expo? He won the MVP with the Cubs, but he made his name as an Expo...with Raines...

I'm betting the Cubs...because that's just what MLB does...whore out the "name" teams...

I dug the Hawk even before the cubs, im glad he made it i thought his #'s were
totally worthy.
For Robbie Alomar not to get in was a farce..did anyone see john kruk go off?
I loved it!

C'mon, you know it took him 8 years to get it BECAUSE he was an Expo.

He played well for both. I can't see Andre wanting to go in as an Expo because he knows why it too this long just like we do.

Long overdue

He won his only MVP trophy as a Chicago Cub, but it looks like Andre Dawson will collect his Hall of Fame hardware as a member of the Montreal Expos.

Dawson sent a text message to the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday night saying: "Hall will issue a press release [Wednesday] announcing that I will go in as an Expo."

Dawson spent the first 11 seasons of his career in Montreal, winning Rookie of the Year in 1977. He hit 225 of his 438 career homers with the Expos. He also showcased more of a speed game in Montreal, registering 253 of his 314 career steals.

But it was in Chicago that Dawson became a household name. He handed the Cubs a blank contract in 1987 as a free agent and signed for $500,000 with $250,000 in incentives. He proceeded to bat .287 and led the league in homers (49) and RBIs (137), while winning MVP, a Gold Glove and going to the All-Star Game.

The "Hawk" was an All-Star in five of his six seasons in Chicago before moving on to the Red Sox. He finished his 21-year career with the Expos.

That's shit. A player should be able to pick what they go in as.

Remember when Boggs said he was going in as a Ray?

Well, pretty much a classless act.

He did win his MVP as a Cub, but that was probably the strangest MVP...on a losing team. Weren't they last place that year? Great job Andre.

Seriously, he has a public appearance in Vancouver soon. I would stay away after those comments. He must be going to Montreal and other cities in the East Coast and his reception will be mixed at best. Dissappointing

I guess it depends on your age, to me I always remember Dawson as an Expo....

That is where he was the complete player...stealing bases at will and hitting, golden gloves.

What a chump.
