NHL Referee Auger Calls his shot before game - Under investigation by League

Burrows said Auger told him during the pregame warmup he was going to "get me back" for a Dec. 8 incident. Nashville's Jerred Smithson received a major and game misconduct for charging Burrows, but the call was later overturned by the league because it said Burrows took a dive.

On Monday, Auger called Burrows for diving and interference in the third period. A 10-minute misconduct followed with four seconds left in the game.

This ref has a history with Shane Doan from Phoneix and a personal vendetta there.

This cost the Canucks one point and perhaps two in the game.

Probably happens all the time in all pro sports, just not as blatant as it was with Burrows....

You know that the Officials Union is gonna protect Auger...

I think that Auger has a history with at least one other prominent player that is well known means this can't be swept under the rug.

The fact that Burrows hasn't been suspended yet makes me think Auger is getting disciplined too.

Look at the first call on Henrik in the second period. It was an embarrassing display of officiating. He should have kept his mouth shut and he will pay with a suspension I think, as will Burrows.

Another factor is the NBA scandal from last year and the Olympics just around the corner.

Rest assured the league will act to protect their league's integrity and I wouldn't be surprised if Auger has refereed his last game.

No way they want a scandal that lingers.

This ref is already not permitted to officiate a Phoneix game, now the Canucks?

A fine for Burrows and no suspension for either tells me that they are hoping this goes away.

It also tells me that this story and Burrows' claims is absolutely true.

If it wasn't they would have surely suspended him for calling out the integrity of an official in the manner he did.
