I, personally, have become aware of a lot more manufacturing in the U.S. over the past year or so. The average joe isn't aware of it, because it doesn't involve consumer goods. Hopefully, we can nurture it, rather than wasting money on Goldman Sachs, et al.

For all the talk of manufacturing in that article, they can't seem to mention any specifics of WHAT is allegedly being manufactured here. About the only thing I see mentioned at all are computers. And even the PC's assembled in the US are probably made from foreign parts, so even that isn't even TRUE manufacturing. Not to mention a rise in computer sales might be temporary because of the release of Windows 7 in the last quarter of 2009, and will obviously level off shortly.

We definitely do need to MAKE things in this country again though.

Much like with immigration, our problem isnt with people coming over the border, IT'S THE FUCKING COMPANIES [US] THAT HIRE THEM.

Make it too expensive to mfg overseas, and give incentives to mfg HERE, especially Green Tech.



However, The US Congress, LLC has their shareholders [Lobbyists] to answer to...

When I listened to the campaign speech Obama gave in Metro-Detroit, he said we had the abandoned factories right there.

Detroit should become our green tech manufacturing capital. The railway system, the factories, and the shipping via the Detroit River/Great Lakes. All of it sitting there rotting. Plus, a highly specialize workforce.

That's the campaign promise I want Obama to keep. Look at the unemployment rate in Michigan and Detroit, compared to the rest of the nation......I feel sorry for Haiti but that's called Tuesday in Detroit
