I worked for a Lebanese company for 8 years and got to know both
flavours (christian/muslim) quite well. I call Bullshit on those stats.
We have 3 large sections of Sydney that are all Lebanese.
Unless those 80,000 are all in those spots.

The individual statements attributed to Australian government officials included in the [article] [...are ...] essentially accurate, but the selectively-quoted excerpts of controversial material from different news stories create the misleading overall impression that Australia enacted a formal policy to force some Muslim groups out of the country. The statements quoted were part of the public debate over an issue that flared briefly in the immediate aftermath of the London Tube bombings, then quietly subsided.

Subsequent versions of this item have been altered to replace the names of out-of-office politicians with their modern counterparts (e.g., Kevin Rudd for John Howard), thereby attributing words and thoughts to people who did not express them.

Bankstown council etc, I could find out the Muslim/Christian thing.
But it doesnt concern me personally and my life would really suck

I was just awoken by our delivery guy (the bugger always comes

Yup, Rudd was thet leader of the opposition while John Howard
was Prime Minister.
The above speech actually sounds more like something Howard would
have said.. We had a female politician running for office a few years
back that made it very clear she felt this way, and voiced it regularly,
she ended up being branded racist. But I felt she was saying what we
were all really thinking. That is, you are in Australia now, you live by
our laws, you are not in your home country anymore. If you dont like
it, please return to your home country. Ethnic groups that suddenly
group in certain suburbs and refuse to adopt the new culture,
language and laws should be sent back home in my opinion :)

I was going to include the problem with the lebanese male gangs.
But thought certain people here would brand me racist. And
that couldnt be further from the truth.

We have a huge lebanese population in Sydney, and as Nick pointed
out, these gang rapes on Australian girls have been a huge problem.
You have 6 Lebanese youths abduct 15 16 year old girls from
train stations, enslave them for days, repeatedly raping them
and forcing them to every depravity you could imagine.

Then when they are sentenced, the lebanese community
is uproared claiming shit like " the girls were asking for it"
and you see the rapists mothers saying what good
boys they are on TV.

Lebanese food is very good. I like to be able to see
the kitchen though, after working for an all lebanese
company for several years, I know they are not big on hand
washing after visiting the bathroom !! lol...

The other interesting fact about the lebanese (apart from the fact they
are arabic and cant decide whether to be christian or musilim) is
that a lot of them speak french. English is obviously their main
language outside of their native one, but a lot also speak french...

I believe the reason why many Lebanese people are able to speak French is due to France's partition of the region from Turkey after World War I under the Sykes-Picot agreement (that both England and France to carve out the Turkish Empire amongst them) before obtaining their independence many years later.
