While we continue to wait and suffer for a new album from VH w/Dave (or anything for that matter), I came across something pretty phenomenal on the VH Links site that no one seemed to point out. In the Bootleg Forum last week someone posted a new, updated '79 Fresno show video...that includeds "LUTS!" Where the fuck did this come from?! It also includes "RWTD" from the show, then continues on with the bass solo, "On Fire," etc. where the original copy started. "LUTS" is definitely one of my favorite non-hits ever and I'm happy to see them actually play the thing!

Thank you much for this! However this is one of the commonly found videos from the Fresno '79 gigs. You can find it on the Early Days I DVD, which is only available through trade or torrent (Thankfully, for free) so give a look. I have both TED DVDs so if anyone wants one... Hit me up.

Oh I know. I've had the '79 Fresno vid for about 15 years, but "LUTS/SGMAD/RWTD" were not on it. When did the longer version come out is what I was wondering.

February 28, 2010, according to xxNatasha007xx, the fellow who owns and posted the footage. Click on his homepage (http://www.youtube.com/user/xxNatasha007xx#p/a) at Youtube, he has all sorts of interesting stuff.

Some cool things have shown up at Youtube in the past couple of months, including some Atomic Punks footage. The problem is you have to wade chest-high through a bunch of Guitar Hero clips made in some dork's living room and some ghastly, utterly screechy Sammy Hagar fronted garbage to get to it.

I have all of the audio from this show in much better quality...

BTW, these clips are going way too slow...

I love LUTS!!! I am currently working on putting together a thrash remake of this tune with my band for live shows. This vid really helps me get more out of the tune. Its heavy as fuck!!!

He has watchable and complete color versions of '78 Fresno?! Thanks Chef, on regular Youtube all I saw was the end of Al's solo. Nice!

Got this reply from the owner of the Fresno vids above...

Hi *****,

I thought I'd just answer your questions here on your message board...The original films were destroyed in a house fire in 1981...I transferred these myself at home using a Fujica projector (they were shot with a Fiji Super-8 camera) & synced them to my cassette I recorded that night on my Sony TCD-153SD stereo recorder with AKG D1000-E microphones...I used my Panasonic VHS camcorder, aimed at the screen, 1, 2, 3, GO sorta deal, which is why the sync is not perfect, but it took me forever to get this all done, in 1979, reasonably...LOL...Someone I trusted posted the "dirty" version, years ago, but I am using THE ORIGINAL VHS I made to post this newer upgrade to YouTube...It is the only existing copy of the show...I also have the 1978 VH Selland Arena show that I will be posting in the near future...Thanks for watching & taking the time to comment.. :)

So do I...

They can be found on the Early Days I DVD. It's got all the known footage from Fresno in 1978, 1979, and footage from St. Paul, Minnesota in 1980... Very good stuff.

god damn they kicked out the jams on that take. I love Light up the Sky more than most, and that just took it to another level. It is a bit slow though, but that could be fixed. Great clip.
