I'm not big on Springsteen but the song was never meant to be "patriotic" to begin with as much as it was a sign of the times on how America treated those who fought for this country right or wrong. If Beck wants to anally rape himself on the flag pole of the Reagan Presidential Library as some sort of fucked-up anti-Communist, pro-American act than by all means, let the mentally ill retard enjoy his perversion while quoting Brooks & Dunn instead.

Whenever we vacation down south the only news stations you get are the US or BBC...so I watch some of this stuff every day...I avoid it when at home(unless there is nothing else on at all)...so yeah, I know what you mean when you say he can be as clever as a crow.

I know people look to him as a credible source...but how....I have no idea...

Robert Wuhl used to do a hilarious bit about the New Jersey legislature's absurd idea of wanting to adopt "Born To Run" as the state song, while apparently never having bothered to read the words. A town in the state is described as:

Daltrey's version ain't too bad, if not pedestrian and overly faithful...

My favorite Springsteen cover was done by (of all people) David Bowie, with Ronnie Wood on guitar, around the time of Diamond Dogs. This is from the Rykodisc version released in 1990. Sadly, the Rykodisc versions (arguably one of the finest re-release programs ever offered) were discontinued, so the bonus tracks on each release (along with the compelling artwork reproductions) are no longer available.

I'd auctually argue that because it goes against the grain of the typical bullshit patriotic songs (lee greenwood) that "Born in the USA" is indeed a patriotic song.

Springsteen is awesome. Anyone who hates on him is a douche.

Also, I'm ashamed to admit, that "Frankie Goes to Hollywood" auctually did a very good cover of "Born to Run"
