    No news is good news!

So far nothing from the Van Halen Camp since their Christmas greetings (correct me if I'm wrong )

I really think there workin' on an album, and like they did back back in 2000, they're keeping very quiet! I got a gut feelin' they're hard at work, tryin' not to fuck up again and tryin' not to step on each other's toes

Let's hope in summer if not before we'll be listening to some very positive news

I really wanna see Van Halen blow Chickenfoot of the water, and bury that fat tequila self-seeking jealous pile of shit lyrics "writer's" "legacy" with this band forever

I dunno...is it really gonna be all that terrible if Roth and the Van Halens never work together again at this point?

Seemingly there will be no new material forthcoming regardless. The vaults haven't been opened. All the band has managed to do in roughly four years is a greatest hits tour.

I mean, I'm certainly not gonna be bummed if I never get to see Ed and Dave onstage together essaying the CVH catalog again.

That biz has been done already.

Am an unlikely candidate for president of the Chickenfoot Fan Club, but whatever one made of their music the fact remains that at least that band came up with some new music.

The whole "will they or won't they?" deal with Roth and the Van Halens was of interest from 1997 to 2006. They have.

Question now is if they have anything else to offer besides repeats.

If not, who gives a shit?

I don't expect we'll ever hear from Van Halen again. Van Halen III's failure put a direct fear of failure into Eddie. He was already borderline unstable by that point and when the public refused to accept Van Halen III and Gary Cherone, Eddie never really recovered from it.

Think about it, seriously. Eddie had been nothing but a success since the time his career started and when VHIII tanked, it ruined his fragile mindset and quite frankly, he's afraid of stepping into a studio, recording music and exposing himself to the same danger.

I believe that there is no new album in the works and there never will be. I believe Eddie can't handle the fear of an album failing again.

As usual Bueno Bob hit the ewok on the head.

I am so used to spEd not producing anything, that it is a shock when he even makes any kind of press announcement.....like he is hocking more shoes or something.
I mean come on....he has no balls. All this fucking talk about 10 albums worth of stuff.....yet he is took frightened to even release one song from it all.

True, Spamulus Flatulus is a blubbering, cheezeburger-inhaling klown, but it is true he has continually toured, and continually produced music (if you can call it that), which is more than spEd can say.

Oh for fuck's sake, who cares. New Album, no new album...who fucking cares. These old motherfuckers have wasted enough of everyone's time to give a shit about news, or lack thereof.

Christ, the Army has been a million times more interesting and relevant than this band has been since 1985...

Fuck it...probably more relevant that this band prior to 1985.

Who gives a shit about any news...is there anyone really actually waiting for news?

Is it really more interesting than finding out that WARF has pelvic leprosy...

or that Icon created and cut a whole new, affordable brand of cocaine that not only gets you flying high, but acts like viagra...

or that Loungemachine scratches his nutsack with a grill brush...

                  I say hell no...

its been a frustrating 11 years, back to the day in nov 99 when they fired cherone and there was hope again. i cant believe its been that long. and i was telling my kid the other day as we watched the no holds bbq, as i really think about it, i get more enjoyment from roth's solo stuff than the brief (times) he was in van halen. i thought he did good with roth radio. i love all the EAS years, strummin, DLRband, etc. and its not that simply that there is more solo stuff available - each era was good, and exciting. i hope if anything dave does something again soon, with vh or not doesnt really matter to me. hagar, i enjoy too, van hagar, his solo stuff, chickenfoot, all of it. the one thing that has really let me down more than anything is eddie van halen himself. i think that it was about the time that he was crying cancer was the point of no return for me. man, i looked up to that guy when i was a kid. all of his ridiculous bullshit for the last 10 years has just got me so disinterested to the point that i dont even check in here as much as i used to. thats probably wrong. this is a great site with lots of information and very knowledgeable folks on the subject matter. and this isnt just me not getting what i wanted - eddie ruined everything great about something that i used to be so excited about. i still try to enjoy the parts of it that havent let me down - like roth, hagar, this site, you name it. its too goddamned bad that ed is so self destructive and that i cared so much about this band. i hope that we all keep in perspective that its a roth site. always was, and i am 100% down with that.
                    ...get your hitchworld on.

They probably are working on an album. If there was a blowup, it would have made news. Maybe they don't want to hype it too much and make the expectations too great - then whatever they do does not live up to what people expect. Then again, maybe it will all into the shitter in the next few weeks.........

(here is your latest update from the Van Halen camp)

                          Van Halen is dead.

Alex forgave Wolfie for eating several plump Jenny Craig customers.
I still want to show Val a good time for one night.

                          Love live David Lee Roth.

I highly doubt there will be a full length album - if anything, I'd think it's a more likely scenario that we'll get one or two new songs that we can download from Amazon or something, maybe a box set/DVD/official classic-era live album to go with it. And frankly, I don't think that's going to happen this year...it might happen next year.

Of course, if it does, I'd like to see it be with Michael Anthony, and then just see them go out on a HUGE tour with a few months here stateside (preferably spring and into fall so that they can play outdoors venues whenever possible). Play up to the 2012 connection and call it "2012: End of the World Tour" or something.

Hell, just market it as a 35th anniversary farewell tour, even if it's really not the 35th year precisely. Give the fans one last chance to see Roth, Anthony and the Van Halens share a stage and play the greatest hits one last time forever, throw in those one or two new songs and give us all a taste of MWM and CGTSNM live.

Hmm. You know, if they did all of the above, I think I could forgive them just about everything else that's come up til now. I actually think I could.

Somebody get Alex on the phone...gotta pitch this one...

I think no news IS good news. If there was no intention of working with Dave again - we would know it. I'm sure Eddie, Alex, Dave and their management are very sensitive to announcing that there will be a new album - when it could all blow up. We won't hear anything until it's all signed and sealed. I can't see them doing another CVH only tour - they need something new.
