The "Planet of The Apes" series

series is reportedly getting an origin story with James Franco .

According to Variety, the actor has signed on to star in a prequel to the series.

A mag source said James had a great meeting with director Rupert Wyatt over the weekend about the movie, that will be set in the present day and chronicle how genetic engineering gave the animals intelligence. The actor will reportedly play an important scientist in the midst of the war between man and ape.

The effects team WETA Digital, who wowed moviegoers with their work on "Avatar," will reportedly use photo-realistic apes and not actors in costumes for the movie.

American Movie Classics ran the entire series last weekend. After not seeing them in decades, I was amazed at how low budget those films really were, as at the time they seemed like epics.

...nevertheless.....the entire entertainment industry is sucking a monster cock right now.
                Another goddamn re-make! ZZZZZzzzzZZZZ!

In the world of music, all we're getting (that's worth a shit) is reunion tours and cover songs, and in the world of cinema, all we're getting is re-makes of movies that have already been done.

These dickheads think that with modern technology on their side, they can make it better. It may have been cheesy or corny, but I like the original 'Planet Of The Apes' just fine. The fact that they're doing this only sends a red alert that Hollywood is completely out of ideas and scraping the bottom of the well. They don't have an original idea at all, and stuck in 'recycle' mode.

The 21st century gets a big fat F on their report card when it comes to originality!

Has EVERYTHING been said and done already??

                  Yes.

There is even a verse in the Bible that is at least 2,000 years old:

Ecclesiastes 1:9 - ...there is nothing new under the sun....

I watched the documentary about these movies and after the first one they kept cutting the budget for each additional sequel as they made them. It's remarkable what they managed to accomplish with thoe films given the dollars they had to work with.
That first film is a timeless classic and all the money and technology in the world didn't improve it one bit.
