Rethink Afghanistan is a 2009 documentary about the ongoing war in Afghanistan. This full-length documentary campaign features experts from Afghanistan, the U.S., and Russia among others discussing critical issues like military escalation, how escalation will affect Pakistan and the surrounding region, the cost of war, civilian casualties, and the rights of Afghan women.
Rethink Afghanistan also gave birth to a movement based out of the growing need and desire for non-military solutions in the region. Through the production of the full-length documentary film coupled with an online and on-the-ground campaign, Rethink Afghanistan advocates an alternative vision to the current U.S. policy on Afghanistan.

Yup and this is the problem. US tactics is bomb the shit out of the so called bad guys, put new leadership in and then offer enough bribes to keep the puppet govt. happy. This works when you have one or two factions but when you have numerous waring tribes, you have a problem.

Basically the American public will tolerate war for about a decade and then they want out. Time is going to be up here pretty soon on Iraq and Afghanistan. Now they are saying there's lot's of raw resources in Afghanistan trying to justify the occupation. I can remember they said they would finance the Iraq war with the ceased oil. Yeah right. The only people winning this war are the war profiteers and unlike Vietnam where people go for a beach resort vacation now, I doubt anyone will want to vacation in Afghanistan 30 years from now.

The guy that said we would eventually leave Afghanistan so we might as well leave on our terms was right. I also like how the point was made that Al Quaida is no longer in Afghanistan but we are spending billions of dollars that the war profiteers lap up to be there. Sadly what will eventually end this war is the money will run out to fund it. Vietnam was waged when the US was the most powerful richest country on the planet, this is not the case now. The US is the world's biggest debtor nation with hardly any manufacturing base. What base is left is ironically the weapons industry but even at that, more and more is outsourced. US troops now use Belgian and German rifles and Italian pistols. I'm sure much of their gear is made in China.
