    So This is Love?

Why isnt So This is Love? recognized as one of the classic, best ever VH songs?

To me its the essential classic VH song along with Little Guitars. But both seem in the same category of-

    Being almost a hit
Rarely getting the airplay of well known songs like ATBL
Not making it on to either greatest hits package
Rarely played live (although Little Guitars was played on lot on Diver Down and 1984 tours)

Why the lack of recognition for So this is Love?

It has Dave being Dave at his best, its fun, a good solo, its what I think of when I think of classic VH.

I didnt hear it on the Sam and Dave tour either.

I dont think I even see it as mentioned as a favorite on this forum either.

    Whats the deal?

    Damn SULU!

    I totally agree.

So this is love is a great, hooky and pure fun VH song.

Definately an attempt at a single if it was never issued as one.

Little Guitars (with the intro) is a pure slice of heaven.
#1 or #2 VH song on my personal list.

    It's a shame.

Why do we not hear it anymore.

    I dunno........ ancient chinese secret?

I like your post so much, I corrected the spelling errors.

can we get some feedback from the more intellectual recruits?

I hear lots of airplay for So this is Love?. In fact the band and record co. in 81 was pushing that song as the single to push the album. Sinners Swing and Unchained was a chart racer instead, for whatever reason. But yeah, that solo is off the hook.

            Wow that's odd.

"So This is Love" has single written all over it.

I never hear it here in Florida.

            Never Hear "Little Guitars".

Those albums are entrenched in my changer, listen to very little radio.

Though I have heard it once in a great while when I do listen.

Awesome song, Dave did it on his 99 tour I recall.

Little Guitars never gets airplay here. Off DD, I hear Pretty Woman and Dancin' in the Streets. My radio loves Hot for Teacher, Jump, Panama, Unchained, And the cradle will Rock, Everybody Wants Some, Runnin' with The Devil, Dance the night Away, You really Got Me and Why Can't this Be Love. Looks like the Dj's know which VH sells better too.

The rock stations in Florida I found seemed to only play about 20 songs in a rotation. Boring as hell after a day or two.

Panama was the only VH I heard on the radio.

                    Cheers!

Vocals were a little strained and pitchy if you ask me but over all great song!

One other song that almost fits in the same category, but it gets a little more radio airplay (but not much) and Dave still sings it-

                        Beautiful Girls.

Its an "almost" hit and not included on the Best of CDs (either one).

That is a "Dave" song if there ever was one!

Yeah Im surprised that one never became a staple single for them. Warner had other ideas I guess.

And pitchy/ strained is NOT how I would describe So this is Love? It sounds great one my Sony 5 disc changer.

i totally agree that the songs mentioned above are a few of there best. however in cincinnati they do play b.g.'s quite a bit and every once in a blue moon you'll get so this is love. i am not a huge fan of little guitars but harmoniously it is definitely superior.

i'll have you ponder on why "hear about it later" and "in a simple rhyme". these also have that sound of being radio friendly but never materialized.

                            what do you think???

                            just an opinion

"So this is Love" is amazing, especially on live in Argentina '83 concert. You have to hear this version of the song.
