Dumbass...

So I guess I will...
I play lead guitar in my band. But I also moonlight playing bass in a country rock tribute band.
I use a Godin 5 string into a Gallen Kruger 200 watt combo.(For the money of course)

That is all... ;)

You're right...I don't play as shitty as you, Bamboo Boy! A belated thanks to MAX (RIP) for telling me exactly who you are. I would have otherwise gone through life thinking you were originally the big touring rock star you claimed to be when you first came on this board.

Hey man, that Yamaha you were using, was that essentially the same body type as the one Mike A used?

I'm a bass player. I play a Spector for the pop and slap stuff and a Jack Casady Signature for that more traditional smooth to fuzz tone. I play mostly finger style because I'm also a guitar player and playing a bass with a pick fucks up my picking on the guitar because I get used to the bass bridge string spacing. If I play bass with my fingers it doesn't mess my guitar playing up. I have found playing bass makes you a better guitar player.

I played a Yamaha at a music store and really liked it. I like the tone they get too. I always dug the bass tone Tony Kanal got on those No Doubt songs.

I play guitar wif de pick, and bass wif de fingers.

Just always felt normal to play bass with fingers.

Everybody's a bass player!

I'm a real shitty one, nice and simple E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-with the deviiiiiil.

But I like fingers, although I suspect you may get more speed with a pick - because you can play down and up. Sheehan is fingers isn't he?

What's the diff?

Even with guitar I get lazy and just use my fingers... cos I'm always misplacin' the darn pick!

I can get some fast trills on a bass with my fingers. With a pick you get a click sound on a bass I don't like. To get some sounds you just have to have a pick though.

For example. To get the bass effect on Frank Zappa's "He's So Gay" you need a pick. You can't get that sound with your fingers.

I play a lot of percussive, melodic base lines using fast finger trills. Much like this solo at 3:00. You can't play this with a pick.

And then no picks in pop and slap. I can relate to this. If the drummer and me start a pop and slap groove we can't stop. It drives the rest of the band nuts. It's addicting.
