    John Carter of Mars

I remember sitting around alone drinking beers and reading these little paperback dime novels. I picked up from some flea market or garage sale probably printed in the 60's somewhat tattered but in great shape.

I was usually on the back deck catching some rays.

I believe the books were called, ...? The Barsoon Series. I bought the whole box of paperbacks, I thought like 5 books or so all having to do with the advetures of this Carter guy. Originally he was a Civil War Vet transported to Mars ( due to the 1912 dates Burroughs wrote them ( but his story is so hard to present ..The Martian guys have 4 arms and are like 12 ft tall). That is one reason for crappy movies to this point.

There is a new movie coming soon titled John Carter Of Mars and should be more than just the last release straight to DVD starring Sabato and the, Goddess of Love and Desire< ( my little term of endearment) Tracy Lords. I found this to be a decent movie.

Back in the 1930' a animated attempt was given the green light only to be stopped due to think tank people who stated Mid West Sensibilities would not understand it , here is a what little was done. I would have loved to see all of this animation, too bad........................... tho.

The new movie has been working for about 1 year now and has changed hands up until this point several times. Disney has it so it may be contrived to appeal to the largest target market you know no real greatness just kiddie crap..who knows.
I can only hope not all of it is green screen and cheaply manufactured.
John Carter, a military captain, is inexplicably transported to Mars and reluctantly becomes a hero in an amazing and epic conflict.

Believe it or not thome, Princess of Mars aired this afternoon on the SyFy channel. Depending which time zone you live in (I'm EST), you still might be able to catch it. As you mentioned, the story is loosely based on the Barsoom series by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

        Cosmic..!

I was cleaning out some old junk boxes and came across collectible junk I have been holding onto for years that I will never use and nobody wants...lol ,you know like we all have, and saw those books. And one thing led to the other and I was flipping thru the channels on break and saw the flick and I was like wierd..?

So, I started doing some research on the movie and that led me to, the new movie project.

Thru modern CGI ( and lots of money) they can perhaps finally pull this flick off with some style. I just don't like to much CGI, then it looks like a cartoon.

I really liked those books they are deeper than just average sci fi.

I am not much of a reader my completed library consists of a couple book cases and that is it not like some great thinker.

        Peace.
