I can't watch it. It's beautiful, yes, but flowers quoting Shakespeare really ruined all the immersion & suspension of disbelief for me.
One moment I was trying to be engrossed in a fantastic world, the other I was jolted back to reality by an extremely out of place reference. It's never pleasant when that happens.
Can someone just give me the gist of it?

As strange as it sounds, yes. It is a simple mistake that anyone can make, but it just ruins it for me.
Ya see, it's one thing to humanize plants and/or animals, but it's another thing entirely for them to actually be aware of & know human culture.
The "do I look fat" remark is a bit too human & requires some social settings, but it's easier to overlook than mentioning characters from plays/books/films/songs.
It's my opinion, anyway. I don't like it.
That said, I'm not usually picky about what makes sense or not in entertainment. This is, in fact, the only thing that does bother me. Apart from that, I can take almost anything. My favourite hobby is watching really bad horror films filled with blatant flaws in logic and plot. I just love that shit.

It's a bit different from the last film I highlighted - The Human Centipede
You're still young, in 10 years time you may start to get a bit more sentimental.
I've talked to old guys in their 70s and it can get to the stage where they nearly burst into tears at the sight of a bright young person bounding up the stairs...Comment
