May be old news but it sure surprised me. Doesn't even sound like him, though, way too much editing in the mix.

Yeah, sounds more like Steve Vai than EVH. Ed sure wasted alot of his talent playing on other people's albums and making soundtracks for lousy movies.

Close But No Cigar sounds a lot like Ed's bag o' tricks.

Although a good deal of it sounds like demos more than a finished product (at least to my ears), it would be sorta neat to gather all of this stuff in one place in order to listen to it all. For instance, this is one of the tracks Ed played on for Rich Wyman's Fatherless Child album from 1996. It would be interesting to know when it was recorded, because it sounds remarkably similar in places to the "Respect The Wind" track recorded for the Twister soundtrack that same year.

This is another track from Wyman's Fatherless Child album. Fairly pedestrian rock, but better than anything on VH III. Ed's ho-hum solo starts around 1:36.

Never mind what the video title says, this is a jam on an uptempo version of "Joy To The World", featuring Ed trading licks with Steve Lukather, from the latter's "Santamental" album released back in 2000.

Lukather should join Van Halen. Ed doesn't seem to "coast" in his playing when Luke is in da house...

Dj, that clip used to be on Youtube under the title "How Many Says I". It looked like one of those semi-pro shot clips you see on boots from an in-house, static mounted recording system. For good or (mostly) bad, the clip was yanked some time late last year, and has not been seen since.

No shit. It's almost as funny as the EVH blitzed out of his gourd solo from Vegas. :lmao:

What was most astounding about it was you could actually see the air leaving the room as the "performance" went on. I'm not shitting anyone here, you could literally witness whatever good faith the audience might have initially felt simply evaporate into thin air. It was right up there with seeing a clip of someone massacring the national anthem at a sporting event.

I remember when that Thomas Dolby song came out in the 80's. I thought it sounded better than whatever Van Hagar was doing at the time.

I've got 95% of his solo appearances if someone wants me to zip it and share it.
