Halen High

Last Sunday, my wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Pat Benatar!
Pat and her husband, Neil Geraldo, are touring Australia and for the first time ever they played our home town, Adelaide. We went to one of our major hotels during the afternoon prior to the concert, hoping to meet her. I have met Alex Van Halen and Def Leppard at the same hotel so I thought maybe... We waited about an hour and then there she is! Emerging from a lift, Pat Benatar autographs a book and has photos with us. One very cool chick! (Like most guys my age, I've had a crush on Pat since about 1980).
The show was brilliant - one of the best I've ever seen. Pat and Neil played with a level of enthusiasm and energy that is reminiscent their earl days, blasting out Heartbreaker, All Fired Up, Shadows of the Night and Invincible.
One of the best things about the show was the way Pat and Neil interacted with the crowd. About halfway through the set, they sat on stools near the front of the stage and played acoustic versions of some of their songs between the stories behind recording them.
I would also add that anyone who appreciates great guitar playing should go see Neil Geraldo in action.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who has also seen Pat live or met her. Would loved to have seen her during the early days - the 'In the heat of the night' and 'Crimes of passion' tours.
By the way, her book is a good read - an interesting expose into the exploitation of the music biz of the 70s and 80s.
