Fuck off.

You only post 2wice, once fucking LAST JANUARY and once again today, for the sole purpose of spamming this board.

Don't get me wrong, I am in favor of DVD trading, but I hate fucking spammers who contribute nothing to the Mighty Roth Army Forums!

most traders have no interest in talking about music with non-traders. because they just want to build up their collections and show off their boots and knowledge(they even answer the question before someone asks)
I fucking hate to see them saying "I have everything" "Look at my list!" "I have a lot of rare stuff you don't have"!

fuck them.

fletch and Lou were the biggest two traders and they actually used to behave like kings. but they never realized it was a very small world. they were just geeks in real life.

There have been a very few times when I have searched out specific shows on the net, only to find zero download links, and have had to initiate trades with strangers. So far every time it has worked out well.
I have a main connection who is also a major taper (he has probably taped 200 + shows a year for the past 20 years) who can pretty much get me anything I can't find for myself. And then there are forums and blogs devoted to boots, where stuff is uploaded by people to share with the world.
I just have a thing against spammers that's all.

I'm a trader, but definitely not a snail mail trader. Only one bootleg have I ever gotten in the mail... it was from some dude in SC I think. I definitely am not a dick about all of this stuff either, I have my big list, and i'm happy with that. Anything I can add, I do, and I gladly share with others what I have

if you are building up your collection by downloading, you are not a trader. you are just a downloader eh?

trading by the mail is fun. even if it takes much more time and money than downloading. ..actually I even enjoy waiting.

put your list somewhere on the internet with your e-mail address.
then one day you will receive an offer mail from a stranger suddenly.
and when you check his(her) list out, you will find some great boots or your new fave band that you've never heard.
and when you finish that trade, you will be making a new friend. it's the real pleasure of trading.

Yup. I have discovered some cool treasures that way. The most recent was the discovery that audio recordings exist of a Frank Zappa concert I went to in 1980. Frank is cool, but I am not a fanatic about his stuff. But it was probably the only time he ever played Wichita, KS. Steve Vai was not yet in the band. No way was I going to miss such a legendary performer.

So then the search was on. Found a guy in Brooklyn who had it. Turned out there were TWO audio recordings of that show. I traded him a 2-disc Motorhead boot and a 2-disc Heaven & Hell boot from the 2009 tour. Worked out great! Both Zappa recordings were of great quality, and I got to relive some memories. :)

Relax !!! There are about 10 dvd concert sites on the net !! All you have to do is google rare concert dvds. All the VH and Zeppelin your heart desires !!!! 1000's of bands. There is nothing rare about them. Google record show in your town and someone is always selling boot dvd's and CD'S. One a month in Minnesota. Fuck any band except Zeppelin can be found on EBay !!

If you don't want to pay for something, it's out there too.

I am not interested in trading for or downloading official releases. I only deal with bootleg concert performances or rare documentaries that would never be seen by the public otherwise. And at most, they only cost me a couple of dollars postage and a couple of blank DVDs if I trade by mail, or the cost of a blank DVD if I download and burn.

I don't approve of people selling stuff that can be gotten for free. It is a question of taking advantage of people. Like idiots who sell booklets on obtaining government grants, when the info is available for free on the net for anyone to have.

No I said fuck off to someone who spams the board. I don't care if he has a collection of monkeys on fire that know how to write award-winning legislation for the Congress Of The United Chimps Of America, nor do I care if he has a massive collection of used loin-cloths from some monastery in the highlands of the Himalayas.

If people wish to see his site, they will, through Google or some other means. If it is a good site, word will spread, and people will show up on their own, without him having to go spam forums such as this.

All I said is there is nothing RARE about a bootleg if you take the time to look for them.

I basically said the same thing. I then went on to explain to Cato my personal philosophy about bootleg trading and people who sell bootlegs. And, I continued to explain that philosophy to you as well when you decided to enter the discussion.

I was never arguing with you, just stating my opinion on the matter.

Also, my opinion on what constitutes rare bootlegs, or whether or not they should be bought, sold, traded, destroyed, used as coasters, shoved up people's ass sideways, or whatever, have nothing whatsoever to do with people who spam the Roth Army Forums in general. This guy just happened to spark a conversation about boots between myself and Cato with his second spamming of this forum.

That tells me your'e telling a guy too fuck off for no reason !!!

I had a quite obvious reason, as explained in post #2 (and beyond) of this thread, which was directed to the person who started this thread, as well as the esteemed Mr. Cato.

Don't buy them if you want too trade them instead !! Good for you, I buy them because I like the artwork that come's with them.

Good for you. Whether you buy them or not makes no difference to me. As I said before, it is sorta like treasure hunting. Finding something you did not know exists that is so cool you must have it, and if you want to pay money for it, that is entirely up to you..

Happened to me in the mid-90s when I discovered that the second show on 12/31/1969 at the Fillmore East featuring The Band Of Gypsys had been videotaped with a 2-camera shoot. I about crapped when I saw it on a table at a record convention. Bought it immediately. Simple equation:

See treasure
Aquire treasure NOW.

The single greatest guitar solo known to man, actually on videotape. Motherfucking MACHINE GUN.

That was 3-4 years before I owned a PC, and long before most of the human race had computers with DVD burners, and before the existence of RapidShare, Megaupload, BT and FTP.

If yor'e pissed at the guy because he only post's for his website more power to you !!!

Why, thank you.

:gulp:

Who gives a fuck. Maybe someone will get something from him GOD FORBID !!!

Way too break it all down for me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm cute when i'm happy also !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And you are correct about Machine Gun as the best solo of all time . That fucking way he ride's that feedback is incredible !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!. I BOUGHT a boot of it. I must have bought it from a assshole that took advantage of me.

Too bad if you expected more, but there is nothing here to get bent out of shape over.

This thread could easily be titled "This Thread Is About Nothing".

Sometimes I've paid for boots.

Other times have done straight-up trades.

Several times traded blank dvds for shows.

Have even mailed a few off for nothing just to get a newbie started. Have been fortunate to have encountered some cool people online (some even on this site today) who would send me shows I had a high interest in for free even when I had nothing to trade that they wanted...most times these people wouldn't even accept my offering to send them money for their postage fees.

Have never charged any money for the stuff I sent off. I can understand someone being opposed to sites that flat-out charge for bootlegs, although I have bought bootlegs myself from these sites.

All of it is, well, not even really questionable in terms of legality, although I'd still say there is a difference between a site that just takes orders for boots they are mass producing and selling (with no trading involved) and trades between amateur collectors who don't view bootlegs as a business venture, but rather more of an extension of their own personal interest in a particular band or bands.
