Funny how prescient he was about Wolfgang back then...

8/30/01. Dave was on promoting his August 30th Sandia Casino show.

94.1 KZZR: I have to ask the gratuitous Van Halen question.

Diamond Dave: "I think it's inevitable that there will be a reunion at some time, you know, as free hearted and wondering and libertine as I might be I think the Van Halen's will have to succumb to some very, very strong overly super powers--namely the wife and kids. Sooner or later one of those kids will turn and go what did you do in the war Daddy? And I will look at him and go "your daddy used to be a very famous man. "

    Indeed! Awesome!!
Thank you for sharing this great find, Sesh!

I read Dave's book three times, but I can't remember such optimism, and he wrote it in 1997, that is 4 years before.
In between, there had been the DLR Band album and tour, and the 2000 "aborted" sessions...
What could make him so confident about the reunion?

Hallo Jero! Hoe gaat het? Been a while!
(I've been busy with my woman & kids)

"what we wanted"... I think you're right. The true fans had it.

But it took the 1998 and 2004 fiascos as well to realize...

Wolfgang would keep on insisting on the fact the real stuff was the 6-pack,
if we owe him anything... and holding the bass as well, because the reunion
wouldn't have occurred without him in...
Didn't HE praise the glorious Tunes to his dad?

I mean, OK, it's not CVH without MA, but I'd rather get the last Tour - and the next album,
hopefully - with Wolf on bass than nothing.
