Hardly much of a "box set" as it is a generalized best of spread out over three measly disc. Anyway, picked this up at some used book sale to benefit grade school kids thingie down the street for $10 ONLY because it has 'The Zoo' on it. That's right a fool and her money - $10 for one song. I've wasted more money on worse but at least is a damn good song..? Right?

The Scorpions put out some great stuff, especially in their early years.

'Lovedrive', 'Blackout', 'Virgin Killers', 'The Tokyo Tapes'.......all killer albums.

Out of curiosity, I checked out the track list and this caught my eye. What fresh hell is this, and who thought it was a good idea?

Haven't got to that part of the CD yet. I'd say pretty much what is on disc 2 of this box set is their best work. 'Twentieth Century Man' isn't a bad tune, either.

Guess you missed the Stout Kraut Rockers' contribution to that short-lived gawdawful trend of washed up metal bands doing orchestra-accompanied albums? (also heard in Metallica's "S&M" and KI$$ "Alive IV". Thank God (or possibly Satan, since it was a "metal" trend) this wave ended before we were subjected to "Symphonic Van Hagar" :headlights:

I'd be interested in a box set that had a dvd containing live stuff prior to Jabbs joining the band. The Animal Magnetism to Love At First Sting period (really the last years of the band worth listening to) have been fairly represented on video, but there's really not much before that out there...it'd be pretty sweet to see Uli John playing Polar Nights with the band.

One would hope a Scorpions box set would contain some true gems like their cover of Sweet's "Fox On The Run" (sung entirely in German)

When I was a teenager our band played this day on the green concert for regional bands. About three bands had Rock You Like a Hurricane in their set. One had this big fat Mamma Cass like singer she sounded like an opra singer singing that song. It was pretty damn funny. Then they had one of their original songs about A one balled man with his dick in his hand going to fucking rodeo. They got the audience to sing along with it. That was good. The security was lax so lots of drugs and booze and people were pretty wasted. We got a game of frisby going and everyone was too fucked up to even run straight. It was a good day.

the Rodeo Song was written by some Canadian in the early 80's. wasn't one of their originals. a local metal band called Brats in Ferarris used to play it too.

Cool. The only time I heard this song was at that concert so I thought it was the band's original. They put so much passion into it and the whole wasted audience sang along. It was great. So thanks for clearing it up and now I can listen to that song again.

The Scorpions are a bit like Motorhead - people will never give them the respect they deserve until they're gone....

:smiley-sniffer:Yes indeed the Scorpions are a bit like Motorhead ( not musically:rockin: ); both made their best albums begin '80s ( Scorpions - Blackout & Motorhead - Ace of Spades ) and both made also good stuff over the last few years!!!

But the difference is Scorpions made their last cd yet and are still busy with their last final-world-tour and I think Lemmy :indifferent0020: goes on till he dies on stage!!!!:sign0011:
