If you haven’t noticed all the great changes at HRC Universal, it is about time for you to come visit. Our patio’s and entry were remodeled this summer, but the sweetest change of all is now complete. Our giant guitar has been updated to a replica of Eddie Van Halen’s FRANKENSTRAT!!!

Coincidence?? That's really cool! I wonder if it was like pulling teeth getting Ed to agree to this.

The pickups are crooked (wtf) and the bridge is wrong.

How goddamn difficult is it to build a replica of (one of) the most iconic fucking guitar(s) in the world?

I wonder if these "fuckups" were designed purposefully, however that still doesn't make a whole lot of sense considering the frankenstein pattern looks to be spot-on.

It's not like you can pick it up and play the motherfucker!

They got the design right. People from all over the world will look at it and immediately identify it with Eddie Van Halen, which is the most important thing.

True, I doubt anyone other than purists like us are going "It's not supposed to have a rosewood fretboard" or "That's not a Floyd Rose bridge on it"... it's close enough for the average punter at Citywalk...

They did get the one knob right though, right ??

Ultimately it's a good thing. CityWalk is a hot tourist spot, and alot of tourists will just look at it and go "VAN HALEN....FUCK YEAH!!" and start air guitaring...
recognition & respect.....mission accomplished.
Hopefully this is something they will do at all of them. The guitar at the Hard Rock Chicago is looking a bit weather-beaten.

YES...as well as the fact it says "Tone" rather than "Volume", so they do get points for that... :hee:

They even have the quarter. If we really want to be geeks we can see if it has the right date on it.

Can't believe this is actually happening. I guess I believe it now. I'm wondering if Interscope thinks this album is going to be really big.

I'm wondering if this is part of the Interscope/Universal marketing. We got news of the signing just a week ago. Was this guitar built over the summer during the remodeling or was this something they quickly built after vh joined Interscope?

My bet is the guitar was already there, they just did the red with white and black on it. Too coincidental that it happens a week after the INterscope signing. I'm thinking that Interscope thinks they have a great album they are about to release.

You're right. I checked out the Hard Rock Universal website and saw an old photo of another guitar. They did a quit remodeling job. We're not used to seeing speedy marketing for vh. :-) I have a feeling after Thanksgiving we'll be seeing lots of vh.

Which Hard Rock is this bar in? This has to be the ultimate bar.

It's at the 5150 EVH Bar and Grill. Ed is out to outdo Sammy's Cabo Wabo Cantina. Not that it would take much to roll over the Cabo Wa-bozo.

The exact two things that first ran through my mind when looking at it:drum:

The reviews are funny. Sounds like the type of joint Ed would run.

Walking in there you would think you would catch an STD, that's how nasty it and the people were.

I Went last year for Halloween (well the night before Halloween, but still had a costume contest). Pretty much went to check it out; I had never gone there before. It was close to home, and girls got in free.... I think it was the first time I ever went to a girls get in free club....

Holy cow was it craps! I might have gotten in free but was it really worth it. It was whores on the prowl and dirty gritty guys getting what they could. The guys would grab the girls, if you can call them that and hump them right on the floor. Don't get me wrong I'm not a prude, and I've been to some other wild parties but, it looked like girls that couldn't get a job at Spearmint Rhino next door, and guys that couldn't afford to get in. Some of the guys even look like they just got off a construction sight and came right after work. It was dirty and nasty, and I'm surprised I stood as long as I did. It was just nasty, and as hard as I tried to get a buzz going to put up with the atmosphere I couldn't.

The drinks were way weak and the sound system was crappie. I'm glad it was as dark as it was, I'm sure I wouldn't of stood as long as I did if I saw what it looked like in the day light. I don't care how much I don't want to drive and settle for a bar/club close to home, I will never ever be back to this rat hole.

Lesson learned, there's no good clubs in the San Gabriel Valley!
Mr. P was right, it was just like Tijuana

Don't they have a bar like that at the Hard Rock in Dallas? As for the Hollywood Citywalk guitar - that was my first thought as well: a new paint job to drum up publicity for the upcoming Van Halen album and tour. Wait...did I just use Van Halen and publicity in the same sentence?

Anyone post a photo of that giant Frankenstrat at night? Probably looks even more bad ass with the neon glowing.

If the Frankie best symbolizes classic Van Halen, then maybe Sammy should put a large statue of this outside the Cabo Wabo cuntina:

Pretty sweet!

For the love of God...I hope they got permission, or else the red/black/white/ stripe copyright protection squad of attorneys will be swooping in at any moment.

If they had a sense of humor they'd so up with a billboard-sized cease and desist letter...

Awww....c'mon NG. Deep down we all love Ed for his incredible talent.

It's his rampant douchebaggery when it comes to fan relations we have a problem with. For the last 4 years the message from Ed has been "I don't want to deal with you unless I have something to sell, or someone to sue."
