View Full Version : Guess the name of the new LP?

Jetstream

Thought this would be an interesting bs post while we wait for the new lp to come out. Heard the rumors or fact (which is hard to tell apart at this point because the band has been able to hold everything in secret better than any event I can remember) that it might be called Bold. I'm taking a shot in the dark, the pitch dark, and will give it the title ALL ABOARD! since it goes with the train motif on the lp cover and suggest that all the members are back on minus Michael Anthony. I know this forum can do a lot better than what I just threw out there, what do you think? :)

Back in the day when I used to dream of this happening, I designed a cover in my head. It had the original VH logo (as opposed to the rings) being lifted with ropes (from the sky apparently LOL) out of the ground like from a VH shaped grave and the album was called Resurrection. It was kind of artsy with a gloomy color scheme.

You think maybe that video footage of Dave singing along with the O'Jays track was a hint that Van Halen was recording a cover?

That could be interesting. But of course they wouldn't be the first rock band to do the song.....

Hadn't seen or heard the Stones doing that, but good stuff.

It would be a good VH cover for this tour for two reasons: (1) they always did great covers, and (2) just because of the sentiment of that song being relevant after this 28-year absence - this here is a train going all around the world - 'tell all the folks in Egypt and China, too ... ' - or whatever it is.

That's what you'd hope the boys are gonna do - bring this shell of world back together with the VH Love Train !!!

Saw this on-line. WTF?

Whether published as a "Promotional gimmick" or an outright mistake on their website, Target.com released the graphic for the new Van Halen album, to be released on February 7, 2012. While viewable online for less than two minutes on New Year's Day (Jan. 01, 2012) and according to their traffic counter, the site received only 644 hits during this time period, astute Van Halen fans were presented with the ad copy which will be published the Sunday before the album is released. Cover artwork is slightly different from the logos already published, depicting a train with the Van Halen logo in the top right corner. In the graphic published on Target.com, the angle of the train is altered, with Eddie Van Halen's "striping" effect added to the locomotive. The VH logo is still present in the upper right corner, and from the text below, the new album is alleged to read "Start Your Engines"

lessee .. a 1 eyed train has been a metaphor in rock/music since before 'train kept a rollin' ..'

then there is wiki's description

"The forte of all Hudsons was power at speed. " - sounds like Ed and Dave on good days

also on wiki -one of the trains was advertised / named "20th Century Limited." - that would be a cool LP name too

(one of the trains was Commodore Vanderbilt - maybe why the Commodores used the train pic previuosly ..? )

to keep it simple it looks like they used a machine that was the powerhouse of it's day that owned NYC rails - it could be why the choose to open in NYC - to power out of NYC like the Mighty Hudson - 20th Century LTD - and steam roll the world with a grittier sound than the happy/bright California sound that they might not be tapping from their goofy fun loving hey day - but rather a House of Pain or Mean Streets, NYC black and white gritty Rock sound - & therefore the massive industrial tour train :thumb:

Dave always seemed to like train metaphors too. Roth used to love introducing the song Panama by saying "All aboard for the train leaving for Panama" and then there is the solo track "Big Train". The train thing would appear to be a Diamond Dave direction

That's not the point. With all of the misinformation that is coming down the pike (tour dates, youtube links with Nuno guitar riffs used to fake people into believing it's new VH, album titles, the new single, ect.) it's hard enough to keep a handle on what's real and what's outright bullshit. If you notice, the fellow wrote "Saw this on-line. WTF?" but couldn't be bothered to name any source for it. Simply posting a link to where you happened to read it doesn't clear things up or even give it one bit validity.

I mean come on...people are getting pissed over show dates that have not been verified, complaining about album cover art when the damned album hasn't even been issued and even whining that the first single MIGHT be called "Tattoo." Rather than a bunch of speculation (which just may have been pulled straight out of somebody's ass) what we need are concrete facts. Naturally, the Van Halen PR machine happens to move at a glacier's pace, but soon enough we'll have the truth.
