"New" Van Halen DVD about to be released??

Just stumbled across this listing at Amazon.com.....

This would appear to be one of those "not entirely authorized, yet somehow legal" releases, and apparently it's the Sao Paulo Brazil show from 1983.

Since the boots in circulation of this show aren't the best quality, this one might be worth the purchase, if whomever made this had the original master.

Grey market release or not, the timing couldn't be better......

I have a crapy VHS copy of this. Would like to see a clean version for sure. I would buy it.

I'm surprised Amazon would get involved in bootleg sales.

Ummm...I hate to say this, but only an idiot pays for bootlegs. Seriously, you are gonna pay 20 bucks sight unseen (plus shipping) for something that may or may not be a reproduction of somebody's crummy VHS copy of a show you can find online for free? And even if this was a pristine, first generation edit of the material, do you honestly believe it would end up on Amazon.com rather than getting a formal release elsewhere?

A lot of those shows on the 1983 South American tour appear to have been proshot in full by various local SA tv stations, and who knows what kind of copyright laws come into play with that continent?

That was a good series of shows, though, so if this were a "clean" version of that show, I might be willing to part with a few bucks to get a copy.

Clicked on the comments from the Amazon page...lol:

"The description states this was recorded in 1983, which would lead one to think it was the classic Van Halen with David Lee Roth. Imagine how surprised I was when I flipped the case over, saw a picture of Sammy Hagar, and the song list from tours with Hagar!

I am going to destroy this item so I can spare someone else from the same pain...at least it will be one less in circulation. "

I want the stuff Eddie's got packed away, dammit. There were multiple cameras in 1980, the year I had mega interaction with both Dave & Ed. Someone tell him to pull out Edmonton '80...please!!!

This new DVD, the DLR Years... Could it be a re-release of The Early Years ?? Y'know, the one narrated by J.J.J.
If it's a new documentary, with new interviews and a Real VH Soundtrack (wasn't the case on the Early Years), yup, might be interesting indeed...
Hey, I'm not Brian Wilson but... Wouldn't It Be Nice if they did like The Beatles Anthology ? 5 DVDs about the Dave era ? And just forget the other ones..? Nevermind my sig in that case.

I have the Diamond Dave years on dvd. A boot of all the Dave vids up to 84. Including the live stuff. Might be the same thing.
