It's not all that bad, really. Especially when you compare it to the horrendous versions you'll be seeing in the next few months.
It's not 'impressive', but it's a helluva lot better than what I was expecting.

True enough, and if these guys play out and happen to perform the tune in their set, it certainly wouldn't be a negative thing.

The guy sings it better than Hagar would, that much is certain.

Hagar would refuse to sing it, drag someone out of the audience to fill in, or change the words to something cruder, like that old "Got my ass against the record machine" deal. Cherone on the other hand, would make at least make an attempt, but he'd be prancing around the stage or bending over in an embarrassing fashion while doing so.

Thats pretty good!! Thumbs up to these guys...

(but, I think the singer sounds like Tom Jones :smiley-lol:)

What is typically missing from Van Halen covers is one thing that pops out very much to me: stage presence.

You can tell the guitarist is the leader of that band. But holy shit does he have an identity crisis going on. Playing Eddie Van Halen dressed like Joe Satriani in a band that sounds like the Fabulous ThunderBirds.

Get some therapy bro....seriously, it helps.

Thumbs up on the cover tune anyways tho. Pretty quick work to get it to sound that decent.

Sounds pretty good actually! Band's tight and did a respectable job. :thumb:

The guy on keys reminds me of the explosives guy in Tropic Thunder. "Mother nature just pissed her pants suit!!" What was with the Yngwie meets Santana solo? All in all, a solid cover band effort.

I plan on beating the shit out of this album when I can get full songs. As much as I love playing the 6 pack, some new blood for the ole axe is going to be awesome.

Maybe 'cuz they weren't on stage, but in a studio?

Fairly faithful cover but it's not that great a song. Kinda plods along. But since it's (new) VH........

I've hardly stopped listening to the new album....Apart from the track Tattoo it is excellent (Tattoo being OK too but more like a laterDLR track than a VH track - still not a bad thing)......anyway - it inspired me...I'm not in a band....help out in a mates band from time to time but not playing so much rock.... I recorded a cover of 'you and your blues' just for a bit of fun using drum loops and playing everything else - I'm not a good vocalist or guitarist but here goes:-

Further inspired by the new album i had a go at putting together a track rougly in Van Halen style...made plenty of references to their early songs:-

Whether you like them or not i'd like to get some feedback on the tracks...

Cheers,

Why so rude?.....There are so few bands out there playing rock music (in Aus especially)..... Van Halen's new stuff has hardly had any radio play here.... I would of thought someone who has posted over 9243 posts on rotharmy would be more interested in encouraging people to play rock.....

I thought the rendition to be quite good. Oddly enough, the backing vocals suggested to me just what an interesting version of this tune could be accomplished if Midnight Oil (Diesel and Dust was the best album released in 1987, let alone the latter half of the 1980s) had decided to get their hands on it.

Don't be dismayed by the commentary, as everyone here gets a knock on the forehead or a kick in the balls every now and then. Look, you had the sack to post your work in the first place, right? That in and of itself says it all. Nicely done.

Thanks for the awesome feedback! Yeah that's my brother Luke playing the guitars and bass. I'm in a band with him called "Smooth Intentions". The links on the video if anyone wants to check us out and I recorded bass and drums for Unchained the other day so stay tuned, just waiting for my brother to learn and record the song! :D

Yep. If I was in a club and a band fired this up, to be fair, Id haveta turn my back and just listen to the song. It was pretty good in my opinion. They were perfoming the song, not trying to be a total VH experience. Id probably end up singing along halfway through.
