Hey guys, I'm looking for an unfinished Wolfgang style body. It's going to be a long-term project.. I want to hand a blank over to JJTheVagPounder and have him sketch on it for about a year and then assemble it, but I'm having a really tough time finding anyone who makes a body... any help is appreciated!

Hmm... seems like it would be a custom job and on a rockstar level... I'm looking for something that won't break the bank.. Thanks for the link though, beautiful stuff!

He is in Boise, Yes he does do some rockstar stuff. But he is a normal shop that that even works on my basses. Regular prices.

www.warmoth.com makes all kinds of cheap shit. ....Isn't this where Eddie got his Frankie seconds body?

I just sent emails to both asking.. I didn't think it would be this hard to find a replica body.

I would go with Warmoth, but you can also check out meanstreet guitars. http://www.meanstreetguitars.com/intruder_guitars.htm

Thanks for the link.. That's my fall back option.. If I can't locate a blank I'll find a cheap Korean model and sand the shit out of it.
I'd much rather have an unfinished body though..

Yup. Keep your eyes peeied. Lot's of Wolfgang auctions on Ebay. They aren't easy guitars to build. You have to have the neck pocket angle just right and the pickup depth routings right. You will actually spend more money trying to build one than just buying a good used one and the one you built probably won't be as good. You won't have the graphite reinforced neck for one thing. I have five of the things and they are consistently good guitars.

Just roughen the old finish with some wet/dry sand paper. Use the appropriate primer and do your final coats. No need to strip it down to bare wood. That is a ton of work especially with these new UV set finishes and you really wouldn't gain anything by doing it.

For me, I pretty much like the way Ed Van Halen sets things up for himself. I just like his stock stuff and don't feel the need to change anything. That's just me. I wish I cold play like him. You can't buy that.

Warmoth used to have the "VW" body, which was closer to an EBMM/Axis than a Wolfgang. they quit making them a few years ago, no idea if they'd make one custom.

I once had the crazy idea of having a company named Michelangelo Guitars with the motto of "We choose the best wood and then cut away everything that doesn't belong."

that's not a motto, that's a mission statement!

I have a couple myself and love them too.

The plan for this project is to build with all Wolfgang/EVH parts, so the neck, pickups, etc will be just fine.

For this particular idea to work as we're seeing it we need an unfinished guitar.. The art is going directly on to/in to the wood. It won't have the same look and feel on a body that's prepped for paint. So worst case I strip a body down and go from there..

Shit, I didn't know about Meanstreet guitars! Thats pretty cool. I think I am gonna buy the 5150 style neck and body and build one with cheap parts and a fake floyd. ..just for something to hang on the wall not to play. Sounds like a fun project.
