View Full Version : Van Halen 2012 Tour - Master(batory) Audio/Video List of Circulating Shows

Mr Walker
03-05-2012, 12:00 PM
Let me try to explain the point of this list...
Since the band has given its blessing to record shows on this tour, it's very likely that each show will produce at least one, if not multiple, audio & video recordings. You can always check out clips on youtube, but this list will focus on shows that were recorded and posted on well known torrent sites that share live recordings. I don't have special connections or anything like that... this information will be culled from recordings that I see on familiar sharing sites, or from other sources if they should arise. There are a lot of people here who are familiar with these sites and how to acquire the shows that are being circulated, but aside from creating a resource for us to see what's out there, I wanted to create this list as a resource for Army members who aren't familiar with shit like this and would like to be able to obtain a copy of a show they attended or a show of special interest. It's a work in progress... not sure how I'm going to keep this organized, but initially I'll try and keep a list of the shows with links to available sources on the torrent sites. If someone sees a show that is available and would like to secure it, you can send me a PM and we can figure something out... again, I am talking about members who don't know how to get these shows themselves (not for people who can, but are just too lazy to do it on their own, i.e. Von Halen). I don't plan on grabbing every available show, so I will note the one's that I do have, but I'll do my best to be sure that if someone wants something, they will get it. Even though the band is cool with recording shows... it still isn't clear what their position is on circulating unauthorized recordings, so if the powers that be at the Army get word that the band isn't cool with this kind of stuff, it will be terminated ASAP. At this time, I don't plan on sharing any direct download links in here and don't come in here trying to sell shit... that is un-fucking-acceptable.

Again this is a work in progress, so bear with me...

I'll volunteer to help you with the Video torrents at JTT. Walker let me know which you would prefer I DL then I can send them to you if you would like. Better jump on them quick because they loose leeches pretty quick and then they loose seeders.

I already have Cafe Wha? DL I just need to burn it.

Thanks Mr. Walker.

Maybe... but I was able to re-register with a clean slate, so as long as I catch stuff when as soon as it shows up, I should be able to keep a decent ratio.

I don't really want you to get anything. Like I said... I'm hoping I'll be able to keep editing the list so people can see what is available. Then if someone was to see a show that they went to and they don't know how to download torrents and shit like that, someone like me, you, Vain can step up and help them out. I may or may not download all the shows, but if we get a group that can cover everything with the willingness to hook people up... it could turn into a pretty cool thing.

Just thought I would throw in 2 cents worth of tech stuff for losers like Von who want to try this themselves. I won't get into the gory details but feel free to ask if you have questions.

I strongly encourage those who have never done this to learn how. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it and you can download whatever you want. You need to do some research on audio files IF YOU PLAN ON TRADING. The hard core guys get really anal about check sums and finger prints and shit.

Link for flac front end. http://flac-frontend.software.informer.com/

Jam To This has an excellent tutorial on how to do bit torrent down loads. Just an FYI Brett owns this site.

http://www.jamtothis.com/showthread.php?t=3074

Dime link: http://www.dimeadozen.org/index.php another torrent site.

It's really easy to do but be warned it consumes the shit out of band width and eats up hard drive space. The audio files are pretty quick and easy to DL but the video not so much. These files are large so don't be

You will need a good software package like Nero to do Video files and it's nice to have for the audio files as well. Once you finish your down load you just drag the files into Nero and hit burn. I think Windows Media player converts FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec)files now but I'm not sure.

You will need a DVD / CD burner for video's. Some new PC's have them some don't. I bought a stand alone HP at Wal Mart that works great for both audio and DVD. I guess now days you can get some that do Blue Ray. I know nothing about that.

Bottom line is once you get the hang of this it can be a fun hobby if you are a music fan. I use to be really into it but got to the point where I had everything I wanted and just got tired of doing it.

Some guys here like Walker, Dave's PA and probably Vain have more damn shit laying around than you could imagine. You can be that way to. You can be the envy of all your friends. Hey check out this new Van Halen bootleg I just got.

Way back in the day we use to snail mail this shit to each other. None of us trust anyone anymore so I guess that's gone by the way side some what. You can trust Walker though 100%.

I'll help anyone I can and I'll send you anything you can't get on your own. I'm sure Walker will as well But really it's easy to do so I would rather you do it yourself.

If you are new to this you have a few folks here that have been doing it literally for years and have volunteered to help you. Take advantage of it.

I don't know about you, but I don't plan on burning anything anymore. External hard-drives are so cheap now...my laptop has an HDMI-out so I just play them from the lappy. I think most people are going towards having media servers that stream via wifi to HD tvs and audio hardware. Also, I don't plan on downloading any audio-only from this tour, unless there is no video available from that night...

The only thing about hard drives is they do tend to crap out. I have 2 WD that have been hooked up to my downstairs computer for years and never had a problem with them. Then recently I bought a 2tb Seagate that died (after I put a fuck ton of music on it). I was able to slowly get all the stuff I determined to be really important off of it and onto a new WD 2tb drive and then that fucking thing crapped out.

Do you have a PS3 and a wireless router in your house?

yes...

twonabomber

you'll need to set up a shared folder on the PC with whatever you want to stream, and then "search for media servers" on the PS3. can't remember if there's another step in there or not. may be in the Windows Media Player properties.

i've got my 676 gig music collection and 222 gig of video (which includes 103 gig of UK Top Gear!) in shared folders which i can send to any TV/PC/PS3 in the house.

i found wireless ain't fast enough. YMMV.

Shit it took me hours to figure out how to get the kids xbox live set up. I'll give the Ps3 a shot.

I was doing wireless with my old router and the videos kept locking up so I ran a wire from the router - into the wall - down into my crawl space - then up another wall and directly into the PS3.
I've upgraded my router since then, but figured it's probably best to stick with a hard wire because I still get occasional buffer issues with Netflix when I stream it to the upstairs TV through my bluray player.
I use PSMedia Server and/or TVersity as 'media servers'... I never went with Windows Media Player because when I first started with streaming, I was doing it with FLAC files and WMP wouldn't work with them. Now I pretty much just stream video files.

I have two WD 1TB drives. Each has the same files. I only hood them up when I want to clear my laptop every few months. Hopefully they won't BOTH crap out at the same time. Gigs and gigs of baby pictures/videos. When one goes, i'll get another one. What are they, $60 now?

A media server is the bridge between your computer & your device (PS3). If you do a google search on PlayStation Media Server or TVersity, you can download them onto your computer. I found TVersity to be the easiest to get up and running, but added PS Media Server because I had some .mkv files that TVersity couldn't stream.

I think when I said 'tend to' it was a poor choice of words... I didn't mean to imply that most hard drives will fail. Like I said, I've had a couple WD drives that have been stable for years.

The only 'con' to streaming DVD files (.VOB files) is that there is a slight pause when it goes from one .VOB file to the next to the next... not as seamless as when you burn them and watch them from a DVD. You could convert the DVD files into 'one' video file, but I've never found one that worked to my liking... i find that the conversion takes a real long time and if you don't know what you are doing (which I don't) the quality can be effected.

i've been using DVD Fab 8 to create one big movie file. works pretty good, similar to the old DVD Decrypter.

i did try to rip a Blu-Ray disc to the hard drive, but i don't like the way the resulting file looks. the blacks are more of a gray. i plan on getting a Blu-Ray burner soon, i will have to burn the whole folder to disc and see if it looks like the original.

I had downloaded some TV series before I decided to collect these VH shows, so my bandwidth usage is already getting up there and it's only the first week of March. Last spring when I got my new router and my upload speeds increased dramatically (and I would leave utorrent open all the time) I fucking shattered through the comcast monthly limits and they wound up calling me to tell me if I didn't knock it the fuck off they'd take my internet away for a year. The limit is 250g a month and for three months in a row (before I realized it) i was up near 1500g a month... the dude on the phone was actually laughing about it.

A couple notes...
The Henson Studios stuff is just a clusterfuck of mp4 files that I hope to organize soon... got that one off demonoid
The internet video collection is just a folder I have where I plan on saving all of those vimeo videos that are out there... right now all i have is the short version of Dave and his dogs.
Again, i think these are all the videos out there between dime & JTT... there's also a DVD of the same MSG show where someone just created a menu and the original Louisville DVD without the audio sync... I didn't bother fetching those two.

Just not use to it I guess. I use Bitornado still. utorrent works pretty well making a torrent but I couldn't figure the rest of it out.

Slightly relevant, but I have become an expert at downloading various video files, converting to MPG and burning to DVD.

Though I am going to have to get a blu-ray burner sometime in the next year or so. DVD only holds 4 Gigs of stuff. Dual-Layer DVDs are a pain in the ass...the layer break presents more problems than not.

So I would LOVE to have a blu-ray burner where I had 25 gigs of space on a single disc. I also do not trust hard drives. Solid State hard drives are a different story. I would think they would be much more reliable than a standard HD.

Right now I have 3 mid-tower PCs and a laptop LOADED with mpg files. I have been slowly transferring VHS tapes to mpg, and have just not gotten around to burning the files to DVD yet.

Would love to just throw them on a blu-ray for data storage. I probably have 3TB of mpgs on my machines right now.

Ugh.....with the advent of personal computers, we have all become librarians now. I spend a LOT of fucking time simply managing the files I have.

I attempted to download the 3/1 MSG show, and it was downloading for several minutes, but cancelled abruptly...

When I retried, it said "permission denied"....

Probably doing something wrong...

I also keep everything on drives. For the car I'll convert flacs to apple lossless and play them through my ipod. On the downstairs TV I watch videos through a PS3 that is hardwired to my router. For the upstairs TV I have a portable HD that I plug into my bluray player.

That shit worked Walker. I have to get a faster router though. :(

Where are you DL it from and what client are you using? Usually when that happens there is something wrong with the torrent. I would delete what you DL so far and start over.

Is there anyway for you to connect a wire right from the router to the PS3?

No. I am going to have to get into the 21st century and get cable Internet. I have DSL right now. If I get cable I can more easily connect direct. Unless? There is a phone line upstairs. I might be able to move the modem up there. hmmm

Part of the problem is that Indy DVD is 720p. It may never stream right.

phone line is the easiest thing to run and hook up. there are also plenty of inexpensive 50 foot CAT5 cables out there, a little harder to run in finished walls or hide but not anything too difficult.

i have found that dual layer is not the big problem that a lot of people make it out to be.

burn one, if it hangs or skips during the layer switch then rip the VOB to one video file and watch it that way.

and oh yeah, this is still the link i post for noobs with video problems... www.videohelp.com

It just means you need to burn it to a dual layer disc.
The best software for burning dvds is imgburn (or something like that). It's free but can't post a link now since I'm using my phone.
