EVH and the whole "tons of music" laying around

So take it easy on the "newbie." This is my first official New Thread. What are your thoughts now concerning EVH's claims of having "tons" of music laying around? Especially concerning John Shank's claims that the seem to support it.

Do you believe EVH's claim now or is it exaggerated?

    Thoughts?

In one of the new videos where Dave basically interviews Alex & Eddie, Dave mentions about music slipping onto the Internet. Eddie quickly responds "not much", and they continue on to another subject. That gives me hope that all we have found is just the tip of a very large iceberg. How many hours-days-weeks-months-years has Eddie & Alex done nothing but hang out and play music in that backyard studio?

I bet there is humongous stockpiles of tunes.

I think that is true, and how they put together ADKOT.

It's their way any Van Halen, Van Hagar and VHIII got made.

EVH comes up first with his ideas out of his vault, he jammed already with his brother.

Ed has mentioned in some interviews there's still a lot of stuff!!

Only problem if they decide to do another VH album ; does Dave like it??????? ( only when he can 'dance' to it)

I doubt there's many complete songs... hours and hours of riffs, noodling, various ideas, jams, etc... that doesn't even include the tuba and cello crap...

They pretty much cleaned out most of the old demo stuff from the late 70's on ADKOT. Not much left there. Ed holed up into 5150 in 84 so should be a lot of material. Doubt I'd want to hear much that came from the 2000 - 2007 era... unless it was the tunes they did with Dave then.

            Dave mentioned tunes in
2000 I had wondered if they turned into something they reused on adkot

But then again 'As Is' is from that era, no? What demo days leftovers are there that are album material? Babe Don't Leave Me Alone...Real Go Getter...

If Ed had tons of stuff that was great I don't think they would have used so much from the old demo's.

Plus if there was so much why would anyone use 'Up for Breakfast?'

Perhaps because the old demos stuff passed best the DLR quality test for the 7th album.

I think they had to go back to sift and lift the old demo's first to connect quickly with the old vibe.
By the time they make their 8th album in 2017, they'll have sifted through the newer demos..

I tend to agree ---- why pass up all that "great music" and instead put out total shit like "How May Say I" or "Up for Breakfast" ??

Ed might have "tons of music" laying around on DAT tape but doesnt mean most of it is any good.

Makes the most sense concerning ADKOT.

They cut and pasted 13 kickass songs from the dusted crap they found at 5150 thats not so bad... I`m sure there are still tons of asskicking riffs and solos that Ed don`t even remember of recording...this guy doesn`t go out much all he does is noodling all night long...

I believe he has hrs and hrs of riffs now if it's enough for 4-7 albums which he claims I seriously doubt it.
