Anybody Run The Unbuntu Linux OS?

I'm thinking of replacing the shit Windows XP on a 2006 vintage Toshiba laptop I use as a second computer that runs slow with any security apps with the Unbuntu OS. Anybody run it? Thoughts or experiences?

My recommendation would be Linux Mint. It's based on Ubuntu, but even better. Doesn't have that godawful horrible Unity desktop, for one thing. (which is the ill fated attempt to make a real computer look like a giant iPhone. Windows 8 is making the same mistake.)

Linux Mint is what I'm running on my home PC. I've tried all the other Linux flavors, and I keep coming back to Mint.
