Karen Hughes, Former Bush Adviser: If Another Republican Man Talks Rape, I'll 'Cut Out His Tongue'

Posted: 11/12/2012 11:30 am EST

For any Republican man considering following in the footsteps of Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) or failed Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock by making insensitive comments about rape, be forewarned: former George W. Bush adviser Karen Hughes will be very displeased.

In an op-ed in Politico last week offering advice to the GOP in the wake of their defeats on Tuesday -- which included Mourdock and Akin, who lost a bid for Missouri Senate -- Hughes lashed out particularly harshly against Republicans responsible for controversial remarks about rape and abortion.

"And if another Republican man says anything about rape other than it is a horrific, violent crime, I want to personally cut out his tongue," she wrote. "The college-age daughters of many of my friends voted for Obama because they were completely turned off by Neanderthal comments like the suggestion of 'legitimate rape.'"

While Hughes' language is quite graphic, the underlying advice appears solid. A host of Republican candidates who drew fervent criticism for their comments about rape ended up losing last week.

FORD, I've read the story elsewhere but your title is still offensive. Just as offensive as what Akin and Mourdock said.

That being said, I won't support any Republican candidates over the age of 50 anymore, give or take a few years.

The new life-blood of the Republican Party is:
Marco Rubio
Nikki Haley
Ted Cruz
Bobby Jindal
Susana Martinez
Paul Ryan
Eric Cantor
et al.

That's exactly how you start your bullshit threads, but you do nine at a time...

And offensive to who here, besides you, anyway ??

How is Jindal a loser ??

How is Jindal a loser ??

Well, for starters he made a big public show of refusing the Stimulus program.... and then turned around and rebuilt bridges and levees with Federal Money.

That makes him a hypocrite.

No, it makes you weasel for trying to create something that isn't there...

Misleading people will get you nowhere...

Jindal is one of the more honest and forthright politicians we have in this country...

Karen Hughes...just seeing her name now...it feels like she's been gone from the scene much longer than she actually has...as if in my own mind I've associated the W Presidency and all those who served in it with a long-forgotten bad dream...

I mean, does any Republican politician on the current scene even care what she says now? Not that she's necessarily incorrect here, but she's got about as much cache now as, say, Marlin Fitzwater.

This could be Karen's way of getting herself back on the Repuke party radar. After the way Rove embarrassed himself on FAUX Noize on election night, I don't imagine even the BCE is going to want him to take the reigns of the campaign for their chosen puppet for 2016 (likely Marco Rubio) so maybe Karen's auditioning for the job?

Maybe.

I think Jebby would be able to snag the nomination much easier than Rubio would, though, as Rubio is a bit of a doofus.

I don't think Jeb is going to be interested in the nomination by then. I doubt Poppy will last another 4 years, and since the eldest son Chimpy is too goddamned stupid to become the new patriarch of the BCE, it becomes Jeb's job by default. I also don't see an older candidate (of either party) getting elected after 8 years of the relatively young Obama.

Rubio is clearly the choice of "BCE - the next generation" and he's pretty much been groomed as Jeb's protege for several years now.

I think there would be a cold day in hell before another Bush could win the white house. Another Bush could win the governor seat of Texas. Looks like another one is going to run.

Well, that's what I said in 2000. And sure enough, he didn't win. But managed to get in the White House anyway. And I actually did have to put on a sweater that day.
