1st Philly show was SOLD OUT, don't let anyone tell you differently, I was there and saw it with my own eyes. As I said before the 2nd was not. VH overestimated their market, as did most of the concerts this summer. Would it have been different with DLR at the helm, probably not since VH has done so much damage to their name with all the singer switches, bad mouthing between members past and present. You think the current tour sucks....DONT GO ASS. You have no more clue as to why people arent going than I do. You aint an expert tool on anything. This tour will still rank as one of the top selling tours of the year.

Look, the facts are that CCC is papering (giving away comp. tickets free to promote awareness/hopefully create buzz) every market to hell and back. In Greensboro alone they gave away close to 5,000 seats. Plus, they are having the arenas set up for 2/3 or 1/2 house seating and still having to tarp the top sections at that so it "looks" full to the uneducated eye.

Philly was not anywhere close to a legitimate "sold out" situation given the above facts.

The Buffalo show barely cracked 8,000, so naturally Philly will do better, they should have kept it at one show.

All I know is what's haoppening where I live, and the buzz over the big reunion is nonexistant here, period.

This publicist might be able to tell you what's sold, but they can't tell you who gave what away I wouldn't think.

i agree...they should have kept it to one night. that is without a doubt since i have heard from people there the second night that it was only half full. I'll post something when i get it but the first show was a sellout and i do not think they were giveaways at all. i know for a fact that press access has been limited so its not the press getting these giveaways.

its no doubt they overthought the Van Halen name that they all have done so much damage to the last 6 or 7 years.

It's no wonder that the Van Hagar shows are not selling out. Their last tour for Balance was not a huge hit from what I've read, and the tour with Gary was even worse.

No one will ever know if a tour with Roth would have done better, but it certainly qualified more for the "reunion" handle than a tour with a guy who was fired from the group.

If you got fired from your job, and rehired - would you call that a reunion? When a dude get's fired, there are usually a heap of reasons that finally broke the donkey's back.

Those reasons are still there, and were on brazen display with the lyrics on the new songs.

the balance show i was at, at the Spectrum was a little over 3/4 full from what i remember and the gary show was between 1/2 and 3/4. Philly has always supported VH.

yeah i didn't really think of it that way although when i get my press tickets, they are usually zeroed out. i don't really consider that as paid, but i assume you might be correct...i really am not sure how it works. For instance, the Vegas show is reported to have had big blocks purchased by several casinos to give away to patrons.

In Greensboro, it is simply a matter of CCC dumping them through promotional channels and writing them off the books as a loss.

i think it would bring in the old faithful that arent taking part in this tour but i dont think it motivates the younger crowd. as sad as it is, im 25 and there arent a lot of 25 and under VH fans. as much as they suck, they would need MTV big time and kids would not buy into VH, no matter who is singing. Worst is we probably will never know what a tour with DLR could do as it will never happen, just dont think it will ever happen no matter how much kissing and making up the boys do. the damage has been done...but could it be a good thing for us fans. I think I would much rather see VH in a small venue comparred to a stadium...doing a two or three night run in a 2000 club would be great

That night of the MTV Music Awards in '96 is etched in my mind, the ovation they got when Dave walked out onstage with them.

To me, that tells me the entire story. This tour would be sold out at every stop. Sam getting back with them really hasn;t had the reaction that even Sammy fans expected.

Obviously better than Dave's. Eddie saw Dave's lyrical ability declining (all covers) and picked Sammy. As for those comments he said that shit like right after he was thrown out. You must have missed the comments he made a couple of years ago when he said the reunion was inevitable, and really wished that Dave would join too. Dave has also said that he would never go back yet he was dumb enough to go back twice. However, it was all Dave's fault in 2000 and his big fuckin mouth's fault in 1996.

see we will never know what really happened with the whole bait and switch thing until M.A. learns to talk. yeah i saw that and think it goes more to what i was saying since it lists paying customers...nothing about free or comps, which is apperently made up.
