Scenarios like being short for a restaurant tab and trying to buy quarters from a cashier at a drug store for laundry. Believe me, I was treated much differently because I'm white.

He actually called them about a loan, and it was like Joe Pesci's character from Goodfellas was breathing down his neck practically. He said the interest rate was not only high, but you had to pay huge fees to get a loan. I think one of the fees was called "Asshole-Money." :)

They probably break an arm if you are late on a payment. They really should make finance 101 a required course. Everyone needs to understand amortization. I was in the loan business and I tried to help a friend get a loan where the future value would be less and he accused me of trying to rip him off because the monthly payments were more. To most people it's how much a month? They have no clue.

Not if you're using the right browser with the proper safeguards it won't.

Firefox w/ AdBlock Plus & NoScript is the best way. If you prefer the Chromium style browser, just don't use Google's spyware-loaded version. Comodo Dragon or SWare Iron are much better alternatives.

And even if you insist on using the MS piece of shit browser, you can still install DoNotTrackMe (which also works on the others)

And it goes without saying that your browser should never accept third party cookies. Any site that claims they "require" such a thing is probably trying to rip you off by one means or another.

And the two sites you want to keep off your computer entirely are Google Analytics and Doubleclick.net. The former has some legitimate purposes, but it still can be used to target you. The latter has no other purpose except to facilitate advertising spam.
