I'm enjoying this a lot! I love when the interviewer is a fan...just makes for a way better time!

Dave's doing some kind of Duke Ellington big band show in Tokyo in November.

That was just fantastic! No schtick and no repetition! Just great stories and convo. Love Jay too!

Dave's banged out some seriously good interviews lately but this tops them ... It's class
Dave is free wheeling , jay knows his shit wants to actually hear dave and is giving him some nice set ups .
And some genuine laugh out load bits .

My son loves the fact that Dave mentions Batman a lot. Last night he said: "I wish Dave could come over to our house and read comic books."

That was great, especially the "college of musical knowledge" bit...

It was funny hearing how Dave keeps his chops at various places around the world...

2012 must have been the Sans Chops Dance Floor Tour for Dave...

The only problem is it looks like the dance floor remains...

Let us pray Dave gets it together a little more these upcoming dates...

"I need you to know that I said lefty, not Lemmy". I was cracking up at that one.

The only problem is it looks like the dance floor remains...

I wouldn't mind if there was a thin shuffle board-like strip that ran length-wise in the front for doing a little shim sham here and there. I just think it looks awkward when you see Ed squeaking by on that little strip between the dance floor and the drum riser, half affraid he's gonna slip on his ass! The thing prohibits the roaming around a bit, I think.

That was a great interview. Agree with those who say it's the best of the lot he's done recently.

From the very first 2012 show I had the impression that DLR worked his ass off at home getting the dance floor routine down tight, but as soon as he actually got in front of 12,000 people he scaled his routine back for fear of falling on his ass and being the YouTube laughing stock of the year.

Awesome chat, rounded off at the far end with one of my favourites tunes - 'My Favourite Things' by John Coltrane. See, in my fucking head Dave always fit right along with those bebop dudes and their jive, and I guess Mohr is a man after my own heart.

I tell you, if Dave's best conversations were sold on CD I'd buy them.

Spider-Man too. I was always a Spidey guy. Glad he said he'd woop Batman's ass.

04-16-2013, 03:50 PM
Yeah, that was my son's next question: "Does Dave like Spider-Man?" He hasn't heard this new interview (too many naughty words) but I might have to play him that part.

There is no way spider man can beat batman , Bruce Wayne kicks Peter parkers ass all day long .
Fuck Bruce just needs to stay up late on a school night and parkers in trouble off aunt may.
Just saying

Only the Toby Macguire (sp) version... in the comics Pete is a total smartass, and bagged two of the hottest girls in NYC w/o benefit of a mansion and family fortune.

Not to derail, but a brief aside... a gf recently gave me a copy of the Spidey reboot... thought I'd hate it, but I didn't... the new guy plays Pete closer to the comics... complete sarcastic smartass... much preferrable.

And I love Bats too, but Spidey would kick his ass... too strong, too fast, too agile... Batman probably wouldn't lay a glove on him.

Agreed. Spidey has the 360 advantage, but that don't mean shit when Bats busts a chair over his head, not to mention all the gadgets on his utility belt. Batman wins every time.

Because he's Batman.

vandeleur

Maybe I need to pitch this differently , Bruce Wayne would be more fun on the drink , he is a millionaire playboy . With cool toys .
Peter Parker sprays sticky stuff everywhere , fuck that I was a teenager

C'mon now. With Spidey senses tingling, Bats ain't laying a hand on him, much less a bat shaped throwing star. Don't forget proportionate strength of a spider. Peter Parker packs a punch.

No. Our minivan is called "The Falcon" and our SUV is called "The Squatch." Makes the kids happy.

the bullshit level going on in the world is unreal and I'm affected by it...

I can't argue with that. But I've found the best way to combat the bullshit is to simply be the best human being you can possibly be. The second you let the BS affect you, they've won. Yeah, what's going on in Boston - and the rest of the world - sucks, and I feel bad for the victims - but I can't let it consume me - it's not healthy. All I can do is begin again at being positive and trying to make the world a better place in my own small way.

Now if you'll excuse me, my Spidey Sense is tingling...

Couldn't help but notice though that near the start Dave describes going in to record VHI the band knew the material so well it was like their home telephone number.

Then nearer the end he says he doesn't know his own telephone number... :)

...it would be cool if there was a site called, infowhore.com...(it actually is, information whore) we could get that donaine name and make it a subforum of The Front for news from several different outlets live pod feeds and such.

a group of clickable links maybe make some add money who knows...

call it, The Roth Army Info Whore. com yea that would be cool.

The only bit that left me wondering what Dave was about to say, and had me thinking Mohr was getting in the way, was when Dave seemingly tried to whip out a CD in his pocket that he carries everywhere. Did he say it was ... (surprise) 'Relight My Fire' by Dan Hartman?

I know that Hartman wrote 'Easy Street', and was in the Edgar Winter Band, but in the UK 'Relight my Fire' was a hit for ... Take That and Lulu, i.e., a boy band with an old 60s star.
